Hi

Post by Sandpaper Spirits »

Hey everyone,

Newbie here, I picked the name Sandpaper Spirits because I figured for the next few months my spirits will be rough, but help take the edge off.

I discovered this community after I'd ordered my vevor set. I wish I'd discovered it before. Oh well, you live and learn - and from what I've learned reading some threads have greatly upped my chances of living longer, so cheers.

I sort of fell into this hobby by mistake, I got food poisoning a few months ago and so tried to sort out my diet, getting into Kefir and fermentation. From fermentation I made a ginger bug and ginger beer, then alcoholic ginger beer, then wine. When ordering wine yeast I also bought some (don't judge) turbo yeast and did a sugar wine to try freeze concentrating. That didn't work out so great, so I decided on a whim to buy something to make proper spirits. It was a toss up between a knock-off air still or an 8 gallon vevor. I'm slightly regretting which way the coin landed.

I'm not a big drinker, but do love a cocktail every now and then, so my hope is to stock up a home bar with my own liqueurs and spirits.

Basically it seemed like a fun and interesting hobby that in the end provides party fuel.

Hopefully I won't ask too many silly or obvious questions, I'm just very keen to learn from you guys to make the best with what I've got and not make any stupid or dangerous mistakes.
