As of recently, have been referring to this forum to learn more about home distillation. I have brewed beer for years now and love whiskey. After inheriting a cheep Amazon still, I ran a batch of meed I brewed, happy with the results, not knowing any difference. I am working on upgrading to a 10 gallon still and ready to learn this art. I can brew, for beer, and I can turn on a still. Processing the alcohol is new to me and I haven’t even tried to age in oak yet. My end goal is to have several small barrels aging of a great spirit. Looking forward to learning and contributing when the time comes.
Thank you

Re: Hello!
Cool! Welcome. Don’t underestimate the effectiveness of oak staves/dominoes etc. in glass as well, for aging. It’s a great way to have lots of control - especially at small volumes. Good luck out there.

Yep, truer words were never spoken. You'll be making good tasting stuff in no time with this resource in your pocket. I'm really only a few months into this and I feel like I'm years ahead of where I'd be on my own. This place is a wealth of distilling knowledge.
Welcome to HD!

Re: Hello!
Hello and welcome!! I am still new as well, only been doing this a couple years and only in the fall/winter. My first few batches were done on a crappy still and they actually came out pretty good. There are some great recipes in Tried and True, I know the threads are long, but take some time to read through them. They are very interesting and informative and will answer a bunch of questions.
