So here is the setup
but I have two 2-1/4# jugs of powdered peanut butter if I was to throw some hearts into the thumper with the powdered peanut butter and a bag each of crushed walnuts and pecans I roasted lightly do you think I could get it to work for a peanut butter flavor white dog, do you think it would clog from the peanut butter powder turning into to thick pastey slop or would the alcohol would keep it thin enough to run out gallon or two of drinkable pb infused whiskey cause I’ve been wanting to try this so bad cause I like screwball whiskey it’s just too weak for my taste and I’m just a little nervous about it maybe getting too thick to thump and building too much pressure cause I have a half inch npt to 90degree 1/2” copper downcomer that goes in to the side thumper, it’s not just a open 2” tri clamp so it goes to the center of bottom and has smaller bubbles to get Hogg proof and flavor
Do you think I should mix peanut butter powder and alcohol first so I know how thin to make it
So last infusion I just threw in watermelon slices and juice in the thumper with mash in the main boiler and it worked amazing for watermelon flavored white dogPeanut butter whiskey/white dog, help?

Re: Peanut butter whiskey/white dog, help?
Might be worth a bash Cronicle, i never run a thumper but i would have thought peanut butter would stay pretty fluid in there throughout the run,
In my limited experience, vapour is recondensed in the thumper equal to vapor leaving so logically it should stay pretty fluid until the vapour from the pot starts to slow also peanuts are high in oils and fats so heat will keep the peanut powder loose, as i say, i never run a thumper so it's theory to me. So could be off the mark.
Nothing ventured nothing gained
I would be interested how that turns out, cos i like peanut butter, i wander if i could use some in my air still to make a peanut vodi.
Food for thought.
Good luck.

On first qt, now not a problem heavy on smell and flavor of pb at 85% but I’m ready to proof it down I did 3qts 130 with one 2.25 jug of pb powder with 1 pint roasted walnuts n 1 pint honey in thumper.Reefer1 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 11:23 am Might be worth a bash Cronicle, i never run a thumper but i would have thought peanut butter would stay pretty fluid in there throughout the run,

From my experience with nut likker, it's unlikely that you will get too much flavor but, if you do, you can blend it with neutral or whiskey to get a flavor profile that you like.

One thing, can you taste walnuts and huney in the flavour profile?
In the uk i never seen powdered pb, i would have to use smooth pb, supermarket brand, honey, walnuts no problem.
So normally in my 4.5 lit air still i would put 1.5 litre of 60 abv neut. And that would generally make me a good litre plus of redistilled spirit, i only ever made gin, so pb would be a new thing, i think it's going to be a bit suck it and see on the qty's of ingredients, i'm thinkin, maybe 250gms pb 100gms honey and 50gms crushed walnuts. With 24 hour masceration at 60c that should pull the oils out.
Is my science sound i ask myself ?? Lol.
I want to keep pb up front on the profile with walnut and honey secondary,
Any suggestions guys on process and ingredients qty's
Welcome.
If this turns out over flavoured, as NZchris say's it can be diluted.

Yea it honestly is a very strong flavor of pb and walnut and less of honey it’s there but I think I’m gonna add some once I finish, Im gonna do three different finishings/flavorings and try LCP(Lincoln county process) some with with sugar maple on one jar , then some more LCP with white oak on a second jar then, also a third jar I’ve started a rapid age some on toasted n charred oak cubes see what the preference is
Even possibly do some blending after all is done to get my favorite pb whiskey that’s not too hard to make but enjoyable for me.
Edit third jar is aging if I’m aging on toasted/charred wood I don’t let jar breath with paper cap cause I feel like it extract more flavor from wood and gets smooth if you breath it after the rapid age on wood

Very strong is good, far better than wimpy. Use it as an essence.
Make up samples using the essence, honey, whisky and whatever else you think might have something nice to add. I start by making 100ml samples for my tasting sessions.
