Hello everyone,
I have been lurking around this place for several years. Always in the shadows, reading and learning. I decided to join now because I feel I can, hopefully, be of some value. I post what I believe maybe somewhat thought proving and engaging topics, a touch beyond the basics, but also reply to others.
Many runs under my belt over the past five or six years. Some good, some bad, none great, all drinkable. At least I'm not blind. That's a respectable bar to clear, I think.
Have tackled sugar washes and TPW the first few runs. Worked my way into the wonderful world of Brandy (drink, gave up on the women named after alcohol when a “19” was still in the year — and not 2019 either!). Have managed to both mess up and impress myself with starch conversion in the land of all grain.
As of the time of this writing currently have some Concord grape juice wine working along with a batch of Rum.
The kit includes two, but small, rigs that seem to get the job done. Chinese stove top pot still and one modular electric milk can, 2" with a basic reflux from Mile Hi. A gin basket project has been in the planning for a year or so. We will see someday.
I spent my first year on an air still. I actually miss that thing sometimes.
In a nutshell, I know just enough to impress a noob but get myself in trouble with a seasoned veteran of the fermentation fantasy land.
As I hope you see, I enjoy a bit of the sarcastic science and comedy culture. The world is full of enough bullshit. I respect everyone, as long as respect is a healthy variable of the equation. Likewise, I live for discussion; even sometimes spirited and passionate. I choose to grow, teach and live without elitist fueled, egotistical driven, condescending communication.
