Saf-Instant Gold yeast

Post by Tammuz »

I was curious if anyone has used this yeast. I was looking for their blue which has a higher sugar tolerance, but I can't find a good source. The gold I was planning on trying it with some rum to compare with some RM 1 yeast. Doesn't cost much but it would take 6 weeks to arrive. Worst case I guess it could become food for the rm1.

I haven't used that yeast before, but I have tried bellarise instant dry yeast because it's cheaper and it's $5.98 for 2 lbs at a local Sam's Cub store. It seemed to work just fine. Yeast prices have fluctuated a lot recently which is the only reason I tried bellarise yeast. I usually try to stick with Fleischmann's yeast unless it's unavailable or over-priced at the time.
