Neutral spirit, does it really matter what I ferment?

Post by Captain Spaulding »

Hi everyone!

I intend to make absinthe, liqueurs, MAYBE some gin. Not making vodka just now. I need 90-95% neutral to start. I have a little boka still plus my pot still. I have feints from rum, bourbon, malt whiskey, and ujssm. I don’t have enough of any one of those to do an all feints run. I’d need to mix it all together for a kitchen sink feints run.

So I could mix it all and run it through the boka for my neutral. Am I missing out on a delicious kitchen sink feints run?

And in future, if I need neutral, can I just do sugar shine? Won’t that be just as good for liqueurs or should I do grain? Again, not making vodka. The neutral will be turned into something else.

I’m leaning towards a boka run of all my feints, I have a good 7 gallons at no less than 40%.
