Muck Pit...... Does it have to include dunder?

Will a partially fermented molasses wash "work" to make a muck pit, if the PH is adjusted to 6, and kept warm, around 30 degrees?

Does a muck pit "have" to be of dunder? If so, why? Whats the difference.
