Re: Old cars
Love old cars, love drag racing. Don't like old cars with 20" wheels and modern bling bling crap though.
Oldest I got now is a 83 gt mustang drag car. (have a spare 9" rear and a 54 dodge straight front axle, 460/c6 for an upcoming project)

Numerous 57L kegs, some propane, one 220v electric with stilldragon controller. Keggle for all-Grain, two pot still tops for whisky, a 3" reflux with deflag for vodka. Coming up, a 4" perf plate column. Life is short, make whisky and drag race!
Re: Old cars
used to have an old 1959 Holden FE, but i had to sell it to make room in the garage for other fun gadgets.

Re: Old cars
Hey Hawke is your 65 a 138 code SS?
I am in the process of a frame of rebuild on my 65 SS at the moment also. I have installed my floorpans, trunk floors and both quarter panels. I have also rebuilt the rear tail panel behind the bumper section, and have the body sanded and blocked from the firewall back.
I just need to do the front clip and line up everything and I will be ready to paint.

Had both 64 & 65 Galaxy, 64 was conv. 64 Lincoln with suicide doors. 69 Pontiac Fire Bird we couldn't keep a drive shaft in, 73 Olds Omega with 350 large and 411 gears, My best car by far!!! Body was stripped to Nova fibre glass spec. We'd go 383 on a 1/4, do 1:12 & thought we were gods!
'ell, look what they can do now.
To hell with that weight to power management thing I say!!!

Re: Old cars
My 65 is a 4 door Malibu, 6 cyl w/glide. Had been in and out of the scrapyard 3 times before I got it. Is going to end up as a 2 door, 2 seater with about a 95 inch wheelbase. Have both doors rebuilt, center posts removed and floorpans rough cut. Just need to get a big enough hole in the shop to make the final cuts.

Re: Old cars
Had a 67 RS Camaro 327/powerglide, 70 Dodge Challenger R/T, 383mag with all the options. Both were nice cars that ran great. Friend had one of the first Hi-Po optioned 289/4spd Mustangs. It was black with red interior. Can't remember the year..might have been 1965. That was one rippin' fast car. Had solid-lifter cams in it and would rev to the moon. Same with the '69 Z's with the 302.

Re: Old cars
I've got a 72 Chevelle that I've had for about eleven years. I've been through the suspension and have done what was needed to keep the 307 and th350 alive. I pieced together the throttle body injection on it and built a megasquirt ECU for it. Now it's time to take care of the cosmetics.
I had a model A Ford rolling chassis given to me a few years ago. I'm either going to build a t-bucket on it or a wood bodied boattail speedster. lately I'm leaning towards the speedster.

Re: Old cars
i have had to sell them but i had 23 minis
years starting in 1964 through to 1973 (i was trying to get one model of every mini sold in OZ)
i had about 12 to 15 ton of spare parts but when i lost the warehouse i had them stored in i had to sell the lot as fast as i could and only got about 1/10 of the real value of the cars and parts
i have since seen one of the cars (1 of the 4 Mk3 cooper S in OZ) in a car yard and it sold for more than i got for every thing
it nearly broke me and i had a small brake down (not so much a brake down but just didnt talk to anyone for about 6 months not even family) after i sold them as i loved my collection so much

I have a '70 VW Kombi van which we used to use on skydiving weekends. It needs a bit of work on the engine and I can't be stuffed working on cars anymore, but I love the fucker. Going to drive it over to a VW guy shortly and let him do it for me.

Re: Old cars
My last Tarago was stolen and burnt out. My current Tarago was stolen but recovered fairly intact. I'm not worried about keeping it in top condition because the crooks have the upper hand and know how to work the system.
Just plain corruption in this corner of the world. My own stupid fault for letting it get stolen. The police don't give a stuff and the courts let the crooks go free.
If you want a low-risk occupation with high dividends then steal cars here and you're good to go. Old cars are the best because they don't have immobilizers and then it's the owners fault.
