Reflux

Literally to "re-flow". Reflux is the process by which some still columns "scrub" the spirits, increasing them in proof and thus in purity.
Reflux is most commonly caused by a cooling of the top of the column which causes the alcohol vapors to condense and descend back down the column where they intercept and help clean ascending alcohol vapors.
