Downtime

Post by Uncle Jesse »

Ooops.

Folks,

1. We had a rogue IP hitting the site a few million times which slowed everything down. I have blocked that IP.

2. I updated FreeBSD and the packages and found out that mysql 5.7 is no longer available and FreeBSD insists I upgrade to 8.1. This is a major, major hassle which I can't undertake at the moment.

The solution - i rolled back HD to 1/10/24, which was yesterday. I'm sure we lost some posts! Sorry about that, it couldn't be helped.

Strongs, I see we lost a day or some. No worries.

Thank you didn’t really notice it. Must not of tried during that period but hard to believe as I am on the forum 3-4 times a day.

It was running a little slower, but no problems. I can't even imagine trying to keep up with all the updates and what nots! Thank you for all you do, Uncle Jesse!!

Well, that explains why I can't get to the thread about distilling animals.

Thanks Uncle
Forum had been getting quite sluggish over the last week .
Sounded familiar to that issue we had last year .

Thanks,
It was really slow for me and I was blaming Telstra (my provider).
I had been spending hours deleting old stuff from the phone I (literally) inherited from my wife.
So much that I thought they had put me on a go-slow.
Thanks, Uncle, for everything.

Who would go out of their way to attack this forum like that? It just seems like a stupid waste of time. I know websites get attacked all the time, but why? It makes me wonder if attacking sites is done to stimulate the demand for continually upgrading software and the like.

It is strange and interesting. I'm wondering the same thing.
