It's all StillDragon. It is a really nice still. So, yes it is the element guard kit and mount. It is a nice kit. I also did the DIY controller and it was simple also.

Re: New bubble plate still and keg.

. Just re-do the parrot input tubing to make it longer. I'm liking the feet and the dump valve set-up! I think that I would have to have a locking valve though, just to keep some moron (me) from accidentally dumping the boiler. That never even crossed my mind. Right now the valve is stiff, but that...

Re: New bubble plate still and keg.

I was trying to cheat my parrot up as high as I could. I didn't know it could be too high. I might have to add a 45 above the condenser to raise everything up.

Re: New bubble plate still and keg.

Nice looking set up Tuckerroach, The only problem I see is the height of the parrot. And the fact that it does not have a chance to breath (unless there is a vent that I can't see). With the parrot mounted that high, there will be a couple of inches in your condenser that will stay filled giving a ...

New bubble plate still and keg.

Finally got it finished up. Just ran my first wash. It runs great. LWTCS gave me the idea for the keg. Thanks Larry.

Re: Tell us about your mistakes.

I have been distilling for a few months and have a ton of mistakes. My first. I bought from bootlegger stills, before I found this site. 2) My first run was with turbo yeast. 3) I forgot to put my return or warm water hose back in the cooler and ran my pump dry. 4) I started a UJSSM and returned my ...

Re: uncle jesse's simple sour mash method

Very nice. Thank you for taking the time. That was very clear and helpful. I have a gallon of low wines saved up and two more 5 gallon washes fermenting right now. I should have enough for a spirit run in the next few days. I did make a mistake and left the heads in my first gallon of low wines. Can...

Tucker, get the idea of using ABV to decide what you keep and what you rerun out of your head. every still is different, and you need to find what you want by using smell, taste, and feel. Uncle Jesse ran this in a detuned reflux still set up so that is the ABV he collected. I have set mine up like...

Re: uncle jesse's simple sour mash method

Hey Tuckeroach You will be better off doing a few stripping runs and then doing a slow run using the low wines from the stripping runs. It's faster and gives better results. When you do the slow run even with a pot still you can get up to 89% abv. Remember to break down your low wines to below 40% ...

Re: uncle jesse's simple sour mash method

TAF and Blind Drunk I split my batch into two 5 gal batches. I added water and yeast. It is bubbling away quite nicely. I think I am going to run both ferments through, condense the corn back into one 5 gal fermenter, add backset, yeast and sugar and use the next batch as a finished product. Thanks ...

I am doing my first UJSSM. I am fermenting 5 gallons. I already ran my first run. I loaded my backset and feints. I added a little corn and my sugar. I also added about a teaspoon of fleishmann yeast. I was out of town, so let it sit for about 8 days. I checked it and it tasted sweet. I did a readi...

Hang in there. There is no need to toss the ferment. Just add heaps of yeast and stir it up, leave it sit and see what happens. You have nothing to lose doing that now. If it kicks off you're safe. :D Wait till it stops fermenting and run it. While the extra alcohol in the feints will make life a b...

Well I started my first UJSSM last tuesday. I used a new fermenter and the lid did not seal right. So, it did not bubble through the air lock. Corn can keep on fermenting in this recipe. Just give it another day or two to be sure? If you have any SG reading at around 1,00, you'll be fine and you can run it.

This is awesome. Very easy to follow instructions. Would you add a spigot to the bottom of the keg? Also, could you add a picture of your condenser? I would like to see your connectors that you used to connect the hose. Great job.

Can I use sugar wash feints for ujssmm?

I just ran my first run of sugar wash through my 4 gal. pot still. I did not know about this site before I fermented, so I used sugar, water, and the dreaded turbo yeast. Since it was my first run, would you recommend trowing it out? I did do a cleaning run to clean the still out, then a sugar wash....
