Re: Got my Sugar wash going... suggestions on diluting/drink
The other thing I was wondering... If I get something 190 proof and dilute it with H2O to 40% alcohol, will it be "vodka". As far as I have been able to understand, that is a matter of definition. In my head I see it like this: In the USA that would be called vodka. In Europe it would not...

Re: Got my Sugar wash going... suggestions on diluting/drink
If you don't want to drink it as vodka then just buy a spirit essence from your brew shop and add it to your ethanol diluted down to 40% with water. You will be surprised at the result. Quite reasonable. In my limited experience, the gin essences produce excellent results (which is not surprising wh...

Hungary's version of Jagermeister, Unicum. Tastes like Jäger filtered through soiled underwear! Possibly the all time worst name for something you drink! Of course it may appeal to these young ladies. http://news.ninemsn.com.au/entertainment/8412112/tv-contestants-threatened-twins-threatened-with-l...

I don't have anything that can really help with your question. However, I just put down 2l of 40% over Whisky chips and 2l of 40% over Bourbon chips today and I am just working on the theory that there is no golden rule - it is gonna be try and taste all the way. My current plan is to let it "a...

Hi again siliconj,
I bought myself the fuselex wall mounted SS filter. I actually had quite a bit of difficulty in getting it because everybody wanted to sell me the plastic one. I had to pay twice as much for the SS one but I figure that the cost will soon be forgotten.

Hi SiliconJ, $50 for 500gms of yeast? Bloody Hell. I was feeling gypped because I paid $4 for 280gms of Bakers Yeast at Woolies last week. I am jealous of the Americans who seem to be paying about $5 / Kg at "Sams". I haven't yet found a cheap bulk supplier here. However, when a 20l wash o...

I'm now confused - when reading through the forums, it was repeated over and over that PTFE (Teflon) is the only safe plastic - why is it safe for seals and gaskets and not the boiler? Glass is no good. Yes I'm aware of the consensus on PTFE gaskets. I don't believe its feasible to use a boiler coa...
