Im no expert but just a small piece of advice: back up your fire extinguisher a bit. If that table gets bumped over and your distillate splashes everywhere you dont want to have to reach into the fire to get your extinguisher.

I think the trick with the borax and syrup solution is to get the concentration right. 50% will kill the little buggers quick but 10% will give them time to take it back to their nest and kill all of them. The biggest problem ive found is that there are way more nests than I ever thought possible. I...

So the sulphides collected on the copper mesh attract more sulphides better than straight copper mesh?
I dont scrub it, just boil it in the wash during runs. Each piece probably goes into the wash every fourth boil.

If you have the time (and patience) just put a small dish with water in it inside the humidor and let the wood season itself. It doesnt take more than a few days and eliminates the risk of getting the wood wet enough to warp. You'll also want to salt test your hygrometer to make sure it is calibrated.

Vance stopntrying to get your ego stroked about your knowledge of fermentation. Wow, great find! The cigars alone are worth double what the deal goes for. Fortunately years ago I saw the wisdom of having two separate CI accounts. So speaking of cigars, and Cigar Weekly members here? I have to admit to not much wisdom. What is the benefit of having two accounts? I 've...

Check the fruit and vegetables area on the main board. IMHO, unless you've already got a ton of fruit that you picked up for free, you are better off doing a birdwatchers (look in the "tried and true" area) and then using friut for an infusion.

You said to trust you, you would never ask a question about fermentation. The real point is that you would have found the answer to your OP if you had done the recommended reading. As an author, surely you understand there is no shortcut for research.

the whole point of forums, IS to be "spoon fed" as you like to call it, i prefer to call it free exchange of information. If you had it your way, a FORUM would not exist. If NO ONE ever asked a question and just "researched" there would be no forums, the whole POINT is to ask qu...

What is the source of the quote? Without a reputable source it is just made up. If its made up and used to turn some people against others, it is spewing hate. Do you really think any president running for reelection would say that? Maybe you should question your own sources more often. Not everythi...

Looks pretty good, especially for a first run!!! Yep copper mesh will help increase your abv and will cut the sulfates. It takes alot of mesh. Per mulekickers advise, I cut mine into 11' (tofit inside of a 3" column) rolled fairly tight. I can't remember how many I put in there but it was two ...
