Hi all, i haven't posted for a while being busy doing it . but im under the influence from my last run with ice so i thought id say a bit as i had so much fun today distilling.
So any way thanks to ujssm recipe you are a god send , i have had so many happy afternoons and evenings thatns to you .
so any way i have processed 4 types based on ujsssm and striped each 4 times with backset .
1. corn 2. corm/porridge 3. corn/grain malt 4. corn/liquid amber malt.
today i did final run on number 3 today and OMG at the point of 158 proof and 87 Deg C what a flavor and smell , i haven't experienced anything quite so fantastic yet with the brewing.
every thing so far has being to ujssm except the addition of different mixes but following the same process.
so 4 brews x 4 strips to each brew the 4 finals 20 distillations 5 bottles gas 49 kilos sugar, a sack of kibled corn , 4 kg malted barley 3 kg liqud malt 1 box porridge
and 80 hours of labour ( oh the determination and commitment of the brewer) but so worth it.
i don't know if its a hobby or an obsession , the wife says im high maintenance.
i could write all the data from the brews here but i feel i could not do justice as the mentors on this site have already shared it over and over (god bless them )
i Can only say , to the newbies read what the mentors say , and practice and practice , its through doing, time and time again that we learn , each time i run now i discover new things and under stand what the pros on this site where saying .
any way god bless all of you brewers and when the darkest hour comes before us , lift your glass and say kiss my ass !!!

Re: BACK TO BACK
Im no expert but just a small piece of advice: back up your fire extinguisher a bit. If that table gets bumped over and your distillate splashes everywhere you dont want to have to reach into the fire to get your extinguisher.
Peace

Yeah, I was also concerned about the fire extinguisher being so close to the fuel source... It the supply line ever failed you wouldn't be able to get the fire extinguisher with a roaring whipping flame thrower of a gas line whipping around... I'd locate it between the still and the nearest exit...RumRaider wrote:Im no expert but just a small piece of advice: back up your fire extinguisher a bit. Re: BACK TO BACK
That fire extinguisher was the second thing I noticed.
First was that you have a very nice setup!
I keep my extinguishers at the doors. and always have a hose ready...
Have Fun
