Re: wine no ferment
Hello Jack,
What ingredients are in the 96 oz can of cranberry wine base?
I have made a lot of wine and usually they take off same as any other ferment I've done.
Did you get both packages of yeast from the same place? Maybe yeast in no good.
Chris

. The inner surface of canning jar lids are coated with some sort of plastic like stuff, not to mention the rubber seal around the rim. Not ideal for storing hooch, ....far less than desirable indeed. Regular glass bottles or jugs, with a good grade of straight cork( not the ground up and glued bac...

Re: Fermenting Question for newbie
One bubble every one to two seconds is all I ever get. My last couple of ferments took about 9 days. I wait until the bubbling drops to one bubble every 30 seconds. The reason I do this is, I cant always run my wash as soon as it's done and I don't want to open it to get a sample to test. When it st...

Re: Advice for making my pot still
If you buy new copper it comes in a coil and it won't take to much effort to bend it. I bent mine around a 1 gallon wine jug and it worked great. The copper bends easy when it's new. If you get it used and it's been straightened it tends to not want to bend again and it will kink easy. I think you c...

Nice work Intrigue, you got some skills :D I know it's asking a lot, but if you get a chance could you post a sketch, nothing fancy, of the internals of your still. I'm just wondering how it works. Or maby you have some pics of the parts before it was fully assembled. Thanks for sharing the pics and...

Fogging
Can anyone tell me why my storage jars are fogging with condensation above the liquid level. If I put my 90 proof next to some store bought 90 proof I will get condensation forming on the inside glass above the liquid level. The store bought stuff has no condensation. Just wondering, maybe I need to...

Nice job NJ Should make a nice whiskey. I see you are using an open flame burner, are you going to run that inside or outside the house? Hard to tell from the pics. It's a good idea to have a fire extinguisher or a charged garden hose with a nozzle on it ready to go, you never know when a leak may p...

I believe it's because the alcohol proofing hydrometer is calibrated to measure alcohol in water only. Because u have a lot of other dense ingredients in there its giving the hydrometer a big lift. The wine hydrometer is calibrated to measure sugar in water, because there is alcohol mixed in it's gi...

Re: having trouble
I'm stumped, if your worm is clear, sounds like not enough heat or not waiting long enough. What setting are you running at? As long as your getting water out and not building any pressure, maybe the amount of condensate your getting is all you can get at that set point. When I have run , I notice t...

The limited runs i've done, I have run my pot still out till I got to about 205○ F and was still getting some decent alcohol. Maybe your shutting down a little to early? I have my thermometer in the vapor path. I taste, smell and feel at every degree in temp change. I gotta get some jars so I can do...

Re: having trouble
Is the pipe near the water getting to hot to touch? What do you hear, any boiling sounds? Maybe your not hot enough. Steam occupies a space approx 1600 times the volume of water, so if your tea pot holds 1 gallon of water you would need 1600 tea pots to hold the steam created if you boiled all the w...

I will try to help but I am new to all this. imho. You shouldn't have your spigot under water For distilling water (testing the still) Blow through your worm to make sure it's clear, fill the pot 3/4 with water, get your condenser water flowing, make sure your still cap is secured and leak tight, he...
