Re: Saving rum dunder
I have had my dunder from a Rum run 18 months ago in a 5 gal bucket but have had a lid n it the whole time. It has been in the garage. I opened it up and it smelled good (a bit sweet and alcoholic) It has some fuzz around the edges but pretty clear otherwise. Should this be OK to use in my 2nd run? ...

Thanks, BB for the reply. I just read that somewhere else here! Doing a bunch of reading on dunder pits now.

Re: Buccaneer Bob's Silver, Gold, and Black Rum Recipe
Making my first batch of BB's Rum and had a question about the yeast trub that is boiled with the dunder at the start. Since this is my first batch, I dont have any dunder yet so I just followed the optional instructions and made a slurry of yeast with 200g in a liter of water and boiled it with abo...

Re: 6 Month Old Sugar Wash
Thanks, spiff for the ideas. I ended up using 1 plate and left the plates out of the other sections. I did not use the deflag and ran straight to the condenser. I ended up with just over 10 liters of 30%. I don't know if that was a good yield from 10 gals of 8% wash, but that's what I got running it...

Thanks, Dane...
I will run the plates when I do the spirit run. I am just determining what is the best way to do the stripping run.

Re: Proper Boiler Element Grounding?
That will work, and that's what I started with. However, if you're planning on removing the element to clean or store, or whatever- having to undo the ground every time will be a pain. You'll probably forget about it and rip it off.. Don't ask how I know that! One of the benefits of tri clamps is t...

Re: Proper Boiler Element Grounding?
You want to check for continuity, so the setting with the ohm symbol. Not trying to insult you, but are you completely comfortable with running your own electric setup if you're not familiar with how to check continuity? Be safe out there! As for the ground, is there a way to drill and tap through ...

Re: 6 Month Old Sugar Wash
...a few questions. 1) Should I use all 4 plates/bubblers? Well, you can...but it'll slow you down. Since your intention is to "strip" the wash, collecting the low wines for a secondary "spirit" run, I would say remove all plates...well, you could leave one plate in just for goo...

Proper Boiler Element Grounding?
Please see attached pics.
The box is metal and I have attached the heating element nipple to the box with J-B weld epoxy.
Is the ground wire that is attached to the metal box enough grounding, or do I need to run another wire from the keg skirt to the ground connection in the box?

6 Month Old Sugar Wash
Hi all. Well after dealing with getting a new business off the ground this year, I finally have enough time in the next few days to run 10 gals of a sugar wash I made in the spring. I have had it in sealed buckets and it appears with sight, smell and taste like it made it through the summer relative...
