Straight corn sugar mash question

Post by Shifty »

Hi there,

Just finished making a mash of 16# corn sugar in 5 Gal. of water. Fermenting right now with Turbo Yeast 48. Question is - after distilling - what would be the best way to flavor the wash? Could you make a "semi-rum" from the corn sugar base by using flavorings such as oak chips, vinilla beans, cinnamon, carmalized sugar, etc;? Any flavoring suggestions would be greatly appreciated! (Yes...I know next time - If I want rum = use molasses and sugar instead!)

Thanks!
