Yep Welcome
3 days !!
Only got about 27 more and you'll be
ready to be as confused as we all were
to start.
I can't stress it enough
READ reAD REad READ!!
Then ask questions - write down what you think to ask then go read
the parent site some more. You'll be amazed at what you can find
on there when you know what you want to ask.
Good luck and good stillin"

Welcome aboard, I'm glad you found us, as the Coyote said read, read, read, then ask and we will really confuse ya. Seriously this is a great hobby, and your going to enjoy it.

A'hoy there Captain.
I started a rum batch this morning and I think I'll name this batch in your honor. Henceforth, the rum batch that half-spilled on the kitchen floor and whence I shall forever be known as the 'running RumRunner' when the missus finds out, shall formerly be known as Capt. Jerry's. Less'n you'd be opposed to me honoring your name with such vile swill?
Tell us a little about what you like to drink. What you looking to make?

Re: New to the fourms
No, not yet. But for some reason when I saw the name Capt. Jerry it triggered this thought string that took off like a grass fire.
I could just see this one legged pirate standing on a peg with one hook for a hand and the other raised skyward. The everpresent black triangular pirate hat tipped precipitously on a head full of black knotted locks falling loosely around the collar of his brocade jacket. Gold earing dangling from one ear and only one black, shiny eye staring down on us all alst the while laughing maniacally.
Can't you see him now??

Re: New to the fourms
First off id be honored if you named your rum after me. At this point i am mostly interested in Rum (because its delicious) and some really high proof moonshine because a few years back my old man got a hold of a mason jar full of some "real homemade sipp'in whiskey" (believe me more than a sip would leave you gasping for air and run'in for the sink) that did the job real quick. its not my drink of choice or anything i kinda just liked the thought of "im drink'in real home made moonshine". it must of been over 90% but i was just wondering do you think it was made out of a sour mash of just sugar cause at around 95% its to pure to tell what it was made from right? anyway i got a lot of books iv been studying including the Alaskan bootleggers bible, the art of distillation, Making gin and vodka a professional guide for amateur distillers, The home distillation handbook, making pure corn whiskey, and a few more. at the moment i have one of those little Mr. distillers tweaked by still spirits so it can distill small amounts (it has proven to be way to small and to much of a hassle) and i am about to order the new 8 gallon milk can still with the new 2" dual purpose tower from milehidistilling.com. do any of you guys know if that is a legit web site? O and thank you all for your hospitality

Re: New to the fourms
Whoa there Capt. Jerry.
Just reading your post I found myself reading faster and faster. Almost out of breath by the end. Sure glad ole L-Dub'ya told me to go get a drink. You got literature there for two full semester and an inservice during the break.
MileHi is legit. I have dealt with them on numerous occasions and just this past Friday was on the phone with them and have always found them to be pleasant to work with. I'm sure you'll get some feedback from some folks that have a milehi rig and they'll probably give'em a thumbs up. Most talk I've seen, people like the rigs. If you got a lil patience and willing to learn you got all the information a fella could want to guide them in making their own rig. That's right; you can make your own rig for a fraction of what a rig will cost ya. That's your choice.
Thank You for accepting the rum as your namesake. I promise to diligently work to marginally improve this lot beyond the level of swill.

I have the rig from MileHi that you are thinking about ordering, and am pleased with it. I also have one from Brewhaus, and a VM still I built. I find that I use the MileHi rig mostly as a pot still although it is a very good reflux still when used as such.
You will find that you cannot keep any "mad" money around. It will go fast on equipment and supplies. But gosh, what is life about.

Milehi
Brewhaus is the sponsor of this great site and I don't think it's ok to bite the hand that feeds you.
Just my two cents.

Actually I would like to see a review of Brewhaus vs Milehi. Or any commercial still. Lets root out the crap for what it is.
Not that I would ever buy either. Build run it drive it like its stolen.
It may force one or the other to step up and make a better product.
Which is better for all.
A consumer buying a crap still and having problems running it, is the worse black-eye our hobby can get.
In my business I listen carefully to the bitches as a means of improvement and take the compliments in stride, knowing that every job I do deserves compliment.
I sleep very well at night. When I'm not scheduled for a 3 am fire pump test. Springs coming better get some sleep

We’re not trying to cause any hard feelings, we’re just trying to get an honest opinion about how our product compares to our competitor. It’s the feedback from our customers that helps us develop new products and improve on our existing items. We also provide financial support to this website and our website has drivers that send new customers to homedistiller.org. At Mile Hi we really appreciate all the hard work that Tony has put into the development of this website and it really is the best place on the net to get information about home distilling.

Good argument SC, and if both parts support this site it won't hurt nobody.
