The Spike Special:
In a low ball glass:
2 dashes Vinegar
2 dashes Worcestershire Sauce
2 dashes Tobasco
Add the yolk of a fresh egg. Be careful not to break it!
Add:
1 oz vodka/gin
Put a gob of Ketchup on the yolk
Pinch of salt and pepper
Drink in one big gulp.
This is usually intended as a hangover cure (which it works wonders for). I personally enjoy it just for shits and giggles (I'm odd I guess!).

Do you brew a sparkling mead? I have yet to do this and I have wanted to for some time. I believe that sparkling dry mead was the precursor of Champagne until cheaper grapes became available.Sbeghan wrote:Absinthe + sparkling mead = ... I don't have a name for it.
How about Valhalla in the Afternoon?
My favourite drink of the winter Olympics is my rum with my honey with hot water. Stirred not shaken.

Re: favorite mixed drink
My favorite mixed drink is called a old dead hippie.
Its one part jagermeister, one part rumplemintze, a dash of good brandy, and a dash of over proof rum.
If you can do three of them and not get sick your a better man then I.
This drink is meant to be done as a shot and it will make you see the world in a different light.
Have fun, RD

My standard was my whisky and 7 up. That is great for an all around drink. But when it is really hot out and I'm sitting in the shade enjoying life...my whisky with lemonade pop...like a whisky sour I suppose....LOVE IT!!!
I use a water glass and use 2 ice cubes then 50:50 whisky and lemonade. After one I feel great and can start supper...two I'm not hungary and the wife will probably start it....three and fuck it I'm not eating, you feed the kids I'm sitting out here relaxing, my day sucked and I'm winding down...the fourth and I'm getting yelled at, it's cooling off, the bugs are coming out and I fall in the pool and come up laughing until I realize I spilled my drink into the pool..time for a shower and go to bed. (and hear about it the next day)

Numerous 57L kegs, some propane, one 220v electric with stilldragon controller. Keggle for all-Grain, two pot still tops for whisky, a 3" reflux with deflag for vodka. Coming up, a 4" perf plate column. Life is short, make whisky and drag race!

fill a 8 oz glass about 3/4 full with beer of your choice
fill a shot glass 3/4full with ammaretto and then pour just alittle everclear or high proof neutral on top of the amaretto
light the everclear or neutral that you put on top of the amaretto on fire with a lighter
let burn for about 2 or 3 seconds drop the flaming shot glass into the 8oz cup of beer and turn it up and gulp it down

In a whiskey tumbler
Juice of half a lime and some of the zest
3 teaspoons of sugar disolved in water
fill the tumbler with ice
Fill the tumbler with Vodka
Sit back and enjoy
Friends come down on holidays and his missus always wants a couple of these over the weekend.
Some use lemon but it just doesn't have the zing.

I like 2 shots of whiskey over 5 ice cubes, sip it slow. The ice melts and waters the booze down towards the end, then when you pour another you really get the feel of strait whiskey. Let's you have that first drink tingle on your tongue all night long.
I also like a nice gin and tonic. I'll go to the fancy grocery store and pick up some gourmet tonic water with real quinine.
Just can't beat the classics. I'm a simple guy.

Re: favorite mixed drink
My favorite- Irish Car Bomb= A layered shot of Irish Cream and whiskey(traditionally an Irish Malt whiskey, I use my corn sour mash) -A half glass of Stout(traditionally Guiness, I use my homebrewed Oatmeal Stout) Drop the shot in the stout boiler maker style and slam that bad boy! Tastes very similar to a chocolate malt. Delicious. But dont underestimate.....
This is grain, which any fool can eat, but for which God intended a more divine means of consumption...

I love the Gin Fizz, but I seem to be the only person who makes it how I like it
2 oz Gin (I prefer Beefeater because it has a more citrus flavor)
1 oz. Lemon Juice
1 tsp granulated sugar
Pour gin, lemon juice, and sugar into an ice filled shaker, shake vigorously.
Pour liquid into an ice filled Highball glass, then fill the glass with club soda.
Enjoy. Perfect for summer days.

Re: favorite mixed drink
I don't have much to mix except my own liquor and I don't drink before dinner - or perhaps maybe a bottle of Belgian beer. So in the spirits department that would be:
All Bran whiskey 48% half and half with water;
Teddy Bear/Black Russian - my coffee liqueur half and half with my vodka, if too strong I add some water
Polar Bear/White Russian - my whiskey cream half and half with vodka, some water.
With the after dinner double espresso I like a Limoncello or a coffee liqueur.
Sometimes after dinner a home made Aquavite or sweetened Cachaça.
All my liquors are 45% or higher to minimize storage, so before drinking I usually dilute a bit more.
The ladies are very fond of these cuddly bears....

vodka&orange juice is my mixer of choice. 100proof stolichyna and fresh blood orange juice. besides an islay single malt and a little cool water, vodka orange juice is my drink.
Re: favorite mixed drink
I rarely drink mixed drinks, I prefer it neat or on the rocks, but I have to agree about the ginger ale. It goes great with any strong liquor, particularly bourbons and whiskeys. SO, if you're a fan of ginger ale, you MUST try Ale-8-1 (Short hand for "A Late One"), a local soft drink you find throughout Kentucky. It's very similar to traditional ginger ale in flavor, but much, much lighter and crisper. Perfect for mixed drinks. If you can get your hands on some I highly recommend it.

If you like ginger with rum, try a Stormy Weather. Had one recently with Gosling's Black Seal and it was pretty decent ... and pricey

I like rum plus choco plus coffee. Mix them all 3 and result is boracay. That's what we called it here..

My homemade Raisin Rum and Dr Pepper, about 1/5 ratio. I actually never drink soft drinks except for the rare mixed occasion.

I've been mixing my Dr Pepper All Bran with Cream Soda. Gives the cream soda a little flavor bite. From the hint of DP.
