Throwing out the poison

Post by jbirdone »

Is it really neccessary for me to throw out the first ounce or two that hits the thump? Does this really matter?

Matter to whom?

Matter to the folks drinking what will be some stank ass jail house hooch if you don't.

If you were going to drink a bit of wine from a 20 liter ferment, you'd be drinkin the stank too,,,just in a much less concentrated form. Beer too.

After all the preaching we do about makin cuts. All the stickies and great bits of info on makin cuts and your gonna word that question like that.

<sarcasm> Hell No! We absolutely love blindness, nuerological damage and severe hangovers! We also secretly love hooch made from radiators and steeped in plastic!</sarcasm>

Sorry. Had to get that out of my system...

Yes. You really should throw away your first makings. If you even come close to following the directions on this site, then these will most certainly be methyl alcohol and imputrities which your body can really do without. But I think you knew that before you asked the question because of the title of your Post: Throwing out the poison.

Last night I had eight or ten shots of my whiskey. This morning I feel terrific, except that I am craving salt. Why? Because I was careful with my cuts and made damn sure that none of the Poison ever came close to it.

Yes. Throw the crap away.

I keep telling everyone that vintage "Coleman White Fuel 1998" is the best kept secret in lantern fuel on the planet...;)
1998 Was a superb year.

1998 really was a good year, but it tastes even better if you age it in a plastic jerrycan for a couple of years.

One advice though: Don't try putting out the campfire with pee after you've been drinking Coleman White all evening!

Seriously now, i use the 'poison' to light Coleman lanterns. Some models need methanol to start them up.

Caveguy, I prefer the Red plastic generic fuel containers. I feel they give a more HDP2 flavor without the plasticene aftertaste.
Although once in a while I get crazy and oak it with a sharpie and some chain saw oil.

I usually only do that for special occasions, though...you know "For Company"...;)

Lil salt on the rim of your (plastic) cup and it really tones down the plasticene aftertaste.

Asking a question like that he's either;
1)trying something different with a thumper or is looking at the operation of a thumper.(does the thumper hold the acetone etc or does it let it pass)
or
2) he's a troll, fishing.

Since he asked and then has read the 15 or so reply's without further response I'm calling troll.

Like going on a car forum and asking "I like to show off by holding the engine at the rev limiter (7000rpm) will this hurt it? My friend said it's not good for an engine but I think he's wrong. Is it ok to rev it to 7000rpm in neutral every day?"

Then sit back and watch the responses and laugh.

RULE 2
2. Be polite and courteous. Remember that nobody is perfect and nobody knows everything. We've all got our strengths and limitations which is why we share information with each other in the first place. Remember that we're all different and nothing is going to change that fact.

Come on Jbird we're just having a little fun, no need to be so serious. When you post a question like that, or any question for that matter, you should expect to get some colorful responses.

Tried that this weekend and decided it was pretty good. BUT! I discovered it was even better with a quick spritz of lemon pledge. Muah!

Jbird, I think the group was remarkably well restrained. I look at it like someone askd a funny question and everybody gave him good natured grief...although Im thinking you might want to rephrase your question...;)

This reminds me that smart people sometimes do dumb things.

At a lumber yard several years ago, I watched a local DOCTOR ask the yard man if they had any scraps lying about that he could have. He was told to come back and help his self. When he returned, with an arm load of 2x4 pieces and other odds and ends, which included some that were bright green pressure treated stuff, he was asked what he wanted them for. He replied that he intended to add them to the grill (barbecue), that the smoke was excellent for the meat. I was amazed, but never said a word. Nobody else did either. The last I heard he was fighting cancer.
