It's now over six months since I built the original Magic Flute for a home keg based application. My regular ferment and distillation is UJSSM, and once aged on oak I bottle and label with the date of distillation and bottling after aging. I usually rotate my stock by drinking the oldest bottles in store, but I needed another bottle and instead of checking the date I just grabbed a bottle. It turned out to be one of the earliest bottles I distilled with the flute, WOW what a difference, the nose and taste were the best I had ever tasted, it was so clean and flavorsome. With the better separation from the Flute there was absolutely no smearing, it's definately the best yet.
I ferment UJSSM on a regular basis so there is no difference in any wash I put down, so the only variable is the still, I have made many still designs over the years, potstills, the Frankenstill, the Evil Twins etc, but the Flute out performs them all.
