Guys can I ask a quick question about dilution.
I have 96% alcohol that I've distilled.
Now lets just say its 2 litres.
If I add 2 litres of water, then it will drop to 48%.
If I wanted to get 40% how much water would I need to add to the 96% ?
Is the answer 2.25l ?
What is the formula for dilution?
Thanks,
Diluting my alcohol

Re: Diluting my alcohol
2000ml/0.40*0.96=4800
4800-2000=2800ml to get to 40%
Well that should be right

Re: Diluting my alcohol
Use the alcometer. Eyeball the levels, add water and test. Hopefully you'll need a little more water and test again. I can get within 2% quicker than by calculating and the final result is what I write on the label. It doesn't have to be any particular number; 45% is the ballpark and I can mostly hit 45% on the third test and an error will read 42%, but I can live with that...just pour a little more in the glass. This is hobby?
No amount of calculating can be more accurate than reading the miniscus.

Hey DOLIKEADRINK go us aussies.
Ayay..only issue I have with that method is that I need to make simple syrups for my limocello and need to put it all in there in one hit or it will distort my flavour. This is because I strip the lemons with the 96 %.
Cheers and thanks for the advice anyways always appreciated.
