I'd like to say long time reader of the site but it has rather been short term, although quite in-depth!
I was recently pointed in the direction of home distilling by a workmate who is also a user of this forum. He basically talked me through the concepts throughout a few shifts and I was instantly hooked, straight home it was and this forum was at point of call. I have read a few articles from the parent site and every article in the "new distiller reading lounge" I have grasped all the basic concepts and designs now and am now ready to get into some action.
I have decided to make a LM keg based reflux system. I removed the core of a keg we had/cleaned so its all ready to go.
I originally wanted to create the column myself, not to save money (which I wouldn't) but rather to get that feeling of accomplishment. Although after visits to hardware stores today and seeing the inflating prices of copper in OZ I quickly changed my mind.
I came home and purchased one of these: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 907wt_1141
and also one of these: http://www.aussiebrewmakers.com.au/reta ... _item.html
Afew questions, would there be any objections towards this final setup?
Also how far up on the keg would you advise me to insert the element?
Oh as for more details I will be looking at using this wash: http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopi ... =14&t=6782
Any comments on my progress so far would be great.

Thanks in advance folks. Will be hearing more from me soon.
