well i am stunned to see on TV documentary programmes, traditional survivor kind of , or women to tribal attending programs ,that woman would chew some of the broth to enzyme or yeast their beer.

When I was a kid in the "60s missionaries came to our church and told us about this practice. The natives would carve out a log and fill it with corn they'd chew up and spit. Don't know how long it took to work off the the missionaries said the natives had one H*** of a party. Don't think the missionaries actually said H*** though.

I think I'll stick to malted barley or enzymes. Don't fancy my own spit - let alone anyone else's.
