What do you folks think? My pal worked up a new page for us for free.

Hate to sound ignorant,
Forum looks same, parent site looks the same,
perhaps I don't know where the "home" page is ?????
Please provide link ??????

EDIT = Found it (had to do search for "Home Distiller") ........
It is not the matter, nor, the space between the matter,
but rather, it is that finite point at which the two meet,
that, and only that, is what is significant...........
(Of course, I could be wrong) ..........

Usually I go to favorites and it takes me straight to the forum, but this morning I answered a PM and I ended up on the parent site. Was wondering why I hadn't seen a thread on the new look. I like it very professional looking.

looking very nice. up to date, simple, classy. seems like with some tweaking and function testing, it is going to be perfect.

will the content be getting updated as well. i know it will be a huge undertaking, but it will be a lot less confusing for people just starting. with the old "refer to the parent site, but!...there is a lot of information that is outdated" thing, it's pretty hard to sift through everything and match it up with the new/updated/current info and theory on the boards. i am not seasoned enough to be able to help with any of that, but i'm sure some of the vets here would be happy and proud to help out.

great to see everything moving forward...thanks UJ!

I am always willing to update info, and that needs to be done.

If you find blatantly inaccurate or dangerous info, definitely let me know.

as for the content, that's a journey of a thousand miles so the first step needs to be taken.

It is not a 'popup'. It simply starts up the forum in a separate page. It is done by setting 'target' to _new "which is new to me'. I normally have done _blank as the target.

<a href="http://homedistiller.org/forum/" target="_new">Forum</a>

I would have done this as

<a href="http://homedistiller.org/forum/" target="_blank">Forum</a>

When on the forum, if you click on the 'parent site', or wiki, do you get a pop up warning? If not, I will be changing the parent site to use the _blank target.

here is the source of the actual link to the parent site (from the forum's upper menu item):

<a href="http://homedistiller.org" TARGET="_blank"><img src="./styles/subsilver2/theme/images/icon_mini_members.gif" width="12" height="13" alt="*" />Parent site</a>

OK, I will give some more positives about the site. It is easy to follow, the colors are well cordinated and easy on the eye's, and the copper porn is always my favorite!

Is it just me? When I click on a subject from the main menu, nothing happens. I've even tried opening in a new Tab, but still can't get to where I want to go.

No BD, it's not just you. Many are not yet working.

Some of the links have been updated and work fine. I guess it will be a while before it is all updated. I would not want to imagine the hours of work involved in all the updating that is needed.

What's done is excellent though. Nice one.

Though I liked the overall appearance of the revamp, I did not pay much attention to the content because I had the old "off-line" version. For quite a while I thought that this revamp was incomplete, and that subcategories were being worked on before the links became operational - as per my posting on Thursday.

Here's an example:

Select "Aging" from the top Menu.
The Category Link "Aging" appears on the left with 9 sub-categories.

Select "Rum" from the subcategory on the left.
NOTHING happens.
_____________

Now select the "Aging" category link at the TOP of the menu on the LEFT.
That will open the category.
Selecting "Rum" from the subcategory will advance to the Rum section

Note that some top Menu selections will give several category links in the menu on the left. The specific category must be opened before the required subcategory will appear.

This insomniac, having decided to check out what's new at the revamped site, has just discovered that all the links appear to be working, though some of the information they contain may need to be updated.

My apologies to those who spent more time with this new page than I had, and/or are smart enough to have figured it out much quicker than I did.
