What do you think I will make with this?

Little or nothing to do with distillation.

What do you think I will make with this?

Post by mash rookie »

My vacation has put me in a creative mood. I have a couple of new crazy ideas floating around inside the usually empty cavern above my shoulders.

I stopped into the dollar store and was looking around at the cheap crap and wondering what could I, what would I, make with this or that.

What if I told you that I bought eight of these?

Remember, I am an artist.

You can make yourself drunk if you fill each with alcohol and drink them!

No. But not a bad idea. I paid a $1 a piece. The yellow paint would cost more. I could fill them with rubber ducks, seal them and make my dog crazy when she cant get them open. That could be pretty entertaining after a few drinks.

Ding Ding Ding. We have a winner !!

Six stacked mug tall column. Each packed 60% with copper. Center drilled 1 1/4 " hole. Two inch copper washer with a 3/8" down comer tube in the bottom of each mug for reflux centering. They should act like a plate valve. Vapor forced past the edges while liquid drops to packing below. Kind of a copper packing flute? Crazy!

CM design. 3/8" condenser coil in the top mug fed from the product condenser.

Two mug shotgun product condenser. Probably won’t do a spiral. All ready did that. Still thinking there?

Thinking about exit cooling water pouring out of a tilted mug? Mug as a parrot? Hmm..... They are a dollar a piece damn it.

And this isn’t my really really crazy idea................ next month for that one.

Actually I do. But that is not how this will be assembled. That would be way to much work. There is an easier solution without adhesives. (I have those too)

I know how you guys love pictures. I will start taking them today of the “MUG STILL” as I start to prep the parts. The cell phone pics seem to be okay and easier than getting out the SLR.

Today is booze play day in my shop. Going to knock up some all bran and some Rum. It will give me a chance to play with still parts while there. The next post will describe assembly and function.

I plan on having a functional crazy artistic still for under $100

Diamond ground the bottoms of the mugs for a flat gasket surface and drilled a 1-1/4" hole in the base of six of them. I will grind the tops to have a perfect mating surface. One hour work. Eight dollars. Its a start.

Did anybody know that Cat's can't tell the difference between Cracked Corn and Kitty Litter?

I had a basin full of corn sittin in the garage for all of five minutes while I went inside. I came back out and found a pile of hot cat crap right in the middle of it.

Good Lord, that's hilarious!

So, did you scoop off the "spent" corn or are you running a special batch for an annoying neighbor?
