Welcome all, I want to introduce myself. I'm brand new to the hobby of distilling but a long time beer maker. Sad to say, I wasn't making as much beer as I should have and sold all my brewing stuff. I had over the years accumulated a lot of stuff, scrap yards were my favorite haunt. Anyway, I sure wish I had some of it back. My tastes have moved more toward Bourbon now and away from Beer. I happened across a bottle of legal Arkansas Corn Whiskey that is really good so that started my searching for exactly how to make some myself. I'm looking at retirement soon and will need something to do. I have picked up a real nice pot still from my friends in Kentucky and have decided to work on some sweet feed to see if I can perfect that.
Thanks for all the advice.

Welcome to the forum, you have found the right location. Read up on the different still designs for bourbon you are probably looking at a pot still but read up on all the options before you start your build!

Welcome Razor Still, I have tried the sweet feed myself with limited success, I think it was the type yeast I used, I do want to try it again, let us know how your effort goes. Good Luck.

Re: Hi from Arkansas
i love the thick sweet feed with extra molasses and some brown sugar with my sugar wash and some store bought yeast with some red star yeast and have had wonderful success but the sweet feed i buy is the rolled oats and corn not chopped.

I got married in a scrap yard in Arkansas. Crystal hill auto salvage to be exact. 19 years ago.

I miss living down there. Will be down there on vacation the end of the month. Catching up with old friends and doing some riding.

Oh yeah Welcome aboard Razor Still.
