Well I forgot to post this after getting back from vacation.
While on our trip at one of the venues. Jack Daniels had a Mobile Distillery tour set up. Just a big rig trailer with big POP outs and air conditioning. I had just read the story of Jack Daniels ( Jasper Newton Daniel ) before we left. http://www.tennesseehistory.com/class/JD.htm So I thought it mite be cool. Guess what? It was just some pics of JD with the same story I had just read. Little disappointed.
The only cool thing they had was where they had a little about filtering and aging in barrels. They had two brass/copper boxes sticking out from the wall that had lift lids with a grate under the lid. One contained white dog and the other final product. So you could smell the difference. I smell them then my wife smelled them. She smelled the white dog and jumped back a little and said OMG heads. And pinched her nose. I laughed a little and pointed at the other one. She smelled it and looked at me and said "Your stuff smells better coming off the still then this does" I love my wife. after that we stopped and look at the barrels they had cut in half for display. I wanted to see what kind of char they had. And we left.
I'm glad it was free. At least the Marlboro trailer we got a free pack of smokes and a T Shirt. JD had nothing.
Reckon some folks figger that nasty stuff is what they like.
One time KS posted that some of his friends couldn't get drunk enough from his likker. Must have been stilled (and blended) too strictly for em??
I figger the the long standing history tricks folks in to thinkin that bog water is how its "supposed " to be........
No offense intended.
Ya know, the actual distillery tur isn't much better in my opinion. Lot of history and some cool things to look at but nothing to write home about. Took about thirty minutes or so and then your done and dropped off in the gift shop to buy crap.
Left there and went to Prichards (10 minutes away) and spent 2 hours there. Talked to just about every employee, looked in every room, was able to ask any question I wanted, sampled everye one of their products, and was able to see and photograph the entire process. Really different experience.
If you look like food, don't be surprised when you get eaten.
