Where to get glass bottles?
Not sure whether to post this in buying/selling forum, but I'm looking for a source of either frosted or clear, tall glass bottles with no logos, designs or anything else on them, on which I can add labels to store spirits that I give away to friends or family, preferably with corked caps.
Where do you guys get your bottles from? Used spirits bottles, or new?

The still is not a liar. Mash and ferment quality is 99.9% of your performance.

LHBS wine bottle selection, would fit the bill, as long as you have a means of closing them up.....

I found some wine at wal-mart for $2.77 bottle, that's cheaper that the new emptys
I've been buying at the brewhaus supply on-line.
I disstiled the wine and now have two cases of once used bottles.

Most homebrew shops or suppliers will sell them. I like wine bottles. And buy Tasting corks or T corks. The ones with the black plastic on top for a grip. They work good in wine bottles.

Thougt I posted here. But I agree. I have starting using t-corks for bottles that will be used soon. Along with shrink wrap. And true corks for bottles that will gather some dust.

The only bad thing I have found about the T corks. Some 1 lt bottles I have they don't fit to tight. They work. But I wouldn't turn them on their sides.

Re: Where to get glass bottles?
Got a few dozen bottles like that from my friends at the local winery.
Screw top, clear, NO LABELS to be scrubbed off (!) , basically clean (needed a token wash with bleach and a brush, and rinse).
Must have been from a batch they bottled and then rejected.
And they gave me a heap of screw tops from the tasting room...
And two of the three smallish local pubs keep a lot of the empty spirit bottles for me, I check every week and get as few as two, to as many as ten bottles.
Mainly standard size, mainly bourbon or vodka.
Sometimes missing the screw tops but you can buy loose screw tops of more than one size...
I just put a computer label vertically on the side to identify my stuff.

The only issue i have noticed with Tasting Corks is that they tend to get a bit mushy when exposed to high proof likker.Prairiepiss wrote:Most homebrew shops or suppliers will sell them. Re: Where to get glass bottles?
The town where I live has several recycle drop-off points around town that has bins for clear glass, green glass and brown glass. I called the Mayor and told him I needed bottles for Pepper Sauce for family and friends and asked him if I could pull out suitable bottles for me to use. He said that since I was recycling them it would be no problem. I stop by a couple of times a week. Just to be safe I never stop by when someone else is there.

I do the same thing at our small town's recycling place. And this is the best time of year, too! All sorts of bottles, and often 1/2 gallon and full gallon jars, too.
