I'm curious about the "bots" I see registered into the site. Not being as tech savy as most, what is the function of these bots, and what types (if any) of information do they collect? Any security issues here?k

They are bots for search engines. Like Google and Yahoo! They search out new posts and images to add to their database. So unless you are posting personal info on the open forums. Don't worry about it.
