flavoring while boiling

Post by crtbc »

So if I make a neutal, like wineo's sugar wash" and I make enough for 4 sprit runs with a full size keg...what would yall recommend I use if, on each spirit run, I wanted to create a different flavor,v say grape, raspberry, orange, and reg neutral...... I know that I can buy grape juic concentrate, and add it to the mash prior to the spirit run so the flavor comes thru with it, but how much do I add so that it comes across tasting almost exactly like smirnoff grape or smirnoff raspberry.. I am not asking for their grain bill... I sm sdasking how much of what concentrate do I add to get to the same flavor profile...

Thank you

I would flavor it after distilling. Either using a flavor you can buy. Or maserating fruit in the neutral. You mite get some flavor carry over from distilling it the way you describe. But not much.

So if I were to flavor after the spirit run... what would you recommend to get the flavor characteristics of say grape smirnoff...1L likker to 1/4 can grape juice concentrate??? or is there actually additives that are still clear but allow you a grape flavor

Thanks

If you want it clear. Yes there are flavorings available that are clear. Both my local brew shops sell them.

If you don't care about color. Fruit and or fruit juice would be best in my opinion. Do like a panty dropper recipe and leave out the sugar. Then diluting with more neutral and water to get the product you like.
