Peach Schnapps
Is the top shelf peach schnapps any good with the addition of the schnapps base of that sugar bag? Im planning of making a 25% Schnapps with my Birdwatchers wash distilled and diluted down to 25%.

Re: Peach Schnapps
Is that some sort of flavoring additive from a brew shop? If so, I think I would try an infusion with real fruit instead...

Re: Peach Schnapps
10 cups water
6 cups sugar
Boil sugar, don't burn.
let cool, add
1 oz. McCormicks peach extract,
one qt of 190 alcohol.
Make a bit over a gallon.
I use this for peppermint, cinnamon, licorice [anise], or what ever flavor schnapps you want. My adult children call the licoroce, hillbilly yeager.
hope you like it.

Re: Peach Schnapps
Your definition of schnapps will also make a difference. American schnapps is more of a liquor then an actual German schnapps.
If you are wanting something more like what Americans think is schnapps. Then you will more then likely need to use a flavor extract or artificial flavoring. To replication the strong flavors they have. It's hard to pull that much flavoring out of actual fruit.
If your after a actual German style schnapps. I would use a peach based spirit and maybe flavor with real fruit. Something like the panty dropper without the sugar. Or very little sugar.
Or you can just try the panty dropper recipe. And see if you like it.

Well i dont know if youve heard of Archers from where ever youre from but trust me it has alot of flavour thats the main reason i wanted to try it with the flavouring as a start then move onto more of a fruit based schnapps just like the German stylePrairiepiss wrote:Your definition of schnapps will also make a difference. Re: Peach Schnapps
I have not heard of Archers. But looking it up it sounds like a sugary American schnapps style. With an over the top peachy perfume and taste. So I bet you would be disappointed with a real fruit infusion. I could be wrong. But a flavor extract or artificial flavoring with sugar sounds more like what you want.
But you never know? When I started thus hobby I lived hot damn. And tried to replication it. In my trials I found I like using real cinnamon sticks. Much better then anything else. So fire piss was created. And it is one of the best things I make now. So experimenting is a great thing. Very fun and rewarding too. Try something out. Don't get discouraged if you don't like it. There are many ways to skin this cat. You just got to find the one that works best for you.

Re: Peach Schnapps
Don't buy "essenence" from the wine shop. Its to expensive and only makes like one guart.
Not sure what your still is but mine with lots of reflux going on id be lucky to get 2.5 quarts of 190 proof hearts from 10 gallons of wash?
That would be enough for 2 batches or about 2 gallons of schnapps with ym recipe?

Re: Peach Schnapps
ditto dunderhead! One little bottle of essence is about double the price of one,1 oz. bottle of McCormicks extract at Wally World, and one bottle extract makes over one gallon schnapps as opposed to 1 fifth bottle with the brew shop essence.
As far as adding bourbon i have never heard of that? Ive never had a sweet schnapps with any hint of bourbon flavor? All the recipes from Ameretto through all my schnapps call for just adding a neutral flavored alcohol like vodka or 190 grain?
And also there is no need, per say to proof down if you are using a recipe such as mine with a neutral 190 proof alcohol, by the time you add the water and sugar you have it "proofed" down to your 30/40 proof already!
