Oaking...question...

Post by Grappa-Gringo »

Trying something new all the time.... so I put 2 , 6inch pieces of Oak on the Barbi, and let them go....
after a few minutes, they caught fire...and I put them out...it took about 10-15 minutes....making sure that they had charred right thru--- then I slowly put them in the jar and sealed it up....

SO, ... now do I just sit and wait???? Hope I'm doin this correctly....

When I char my wood on the BBQ I wrap it in aluminum foil and set the. Temp at about 350 F. Once I smell the product I can actually see it starting to smoke out of the foil. I then open it and check if looks done I remove it. Processes takes between 20-40 minutes depending on how far away from the heat you are.
