Re: Prayers needed
This is my first trip to off-topic and first time seeing this. Prayers for you and your family from the entire WTR family. Sorry for your loss.
I'm a simple man, I like a simple band, and I use a simple pot still.
Re: Prayers needed
Thank you all for every good wish and all the prayers.
This has been a huge trial for the wife and I.
She is dealing with this "as well as can be expected" Me too.
I have always believed that the Lord will never ask you to
carry more than you are capable of. Sometimes He thinks
I am a lot stronger than I think I am.
Dick was in the car game all his life. Loved the muscle cars,
always drove hard and fast. The other day my wife said
" He drove to fast and finished too soon"
Many years ago some of you will remember Dick even though
you never met this wonderful man. Back in the late 70's he worked for Datsun
and they had a TV spot for the 280 ZX. Car was setting on a huge pinnacle
of rock out in the desert. No spoken words - just a helicopter fly by and the
word 'AWESOME" appeared on the screen. Dick designed that commercial.
He will be missed
Thanks again for all of you and your support

Small world...we're in the same state and my own father worked for Datsun/Nissan in the 80's. He was a district manager and often traveled this region. I'm sure he and your Father in law knew each other. They would have been about the same age too. Unfortunately he passed away about 6 years ago. I've lost both my parents much too soon.
Sounds like he was a good man and a good friend/mentor to you. We are reminded at times like these that life is very short and we can lose someone at any time...
Grab someone you care about (or perhaps someone NO ONE cares about) and tell them they matter and are loved.
My thoughts and prayers are with you, neighbor...

Re: Prayers needed
Got back from L.A. last night.
Yep I still hate that town.
Wife played the fly or drive game for several days.
She didn't want to fly commercial, and I have enough metal
in me that airports are no fun anymore.
I was not willing to fly the 172 down into that maelstrom.
Just not up to speed to get into those airways.
We ended up driving and it was for the most part a good trip.
Got a bit of snow going over Donner Pass but not enough to
worry about.
The service was in Newport Beach on the water. About half way
through the deal one of those water powered flying vests
flew up and looked in the window - just sat there and looked in
for about 3 minutes. My wife finally broke and started laughing her
butt off. 150 people watching this guy watching us.
Dick would have loved it.
We laughed at some of the ranches in central Nevada, wondering
what building housed the still. . . Too damn far to drive to town for a
drink. Those places that when your son says he's going to play at
Tommy's house you tell him to be back no later than November.
Thank you all for your well wishes

Thank you all for your wishes. It is hard to believe its been over a year since we lost Dick. He was a great man and a great friend.
Now my own dad is fighting a heart issue and will in a few days be totally dependent on a pace maker. Sort of scary but he turned
82 on Tuesday and has lived a wonderful life.
Again thanks for all our prayers and wishes

Thanks Pat
It's all good in the grander scope of things.
Hay is all on the ground and we started baling this morning
should have it all in the stack by Thursday.
Grandma is 99 the end of this month, a few years ago while driving
down the road it crossed my mind that I have this woman's blood
running through my veins - and I ain't been near good enough to
my body to live anywhere near that frickin' long !

If that is the case I better cut my wick a little shorter. Life sure does pass by quick. Definitely ones need to take the small amount of free time That we have to spend with some of the older one's within our families. Hope all goes wellFrosteecat wrote:Remember, "the candle that burns brightest burns twice as fast"!

Thanks DrinkingDog,
Dad has had a wonderful life and as we all know we ain't getting out of here alive.
I spent last weekend with the folks, sad to see. Dad said in February he was walking
27 holes a day - now he is on a walker. But his faith has never wavered.

Re: Prayers needed
Man Coyote I'm sorry for the rough times it sounds like you've had over the past year or so. My thoughts and prayers will be with you. Any news on how your Dad's doing? It seems no matter how many friends and family i lose it never gets any easier. But makes you appreciate those you have and the time you have with them. I hope your father is doing well and that you have many more years with him around. Take care and keep your chin up.These kinds of things always bring to mind one of my favorite Dylan tunes so I'll leave ya with that.
"May God bless and keep you always, may your wishes all come true, may you always do for others, and let others do for you. May you build a ladder to the stars, and climb on every rung. May you stay forever young."

Re: Prayers needed
Thanks Midwest Shinner,
Latest report is that they were planning to go in on the 12th of June and burn the
node off the top of his heart, killing the function - the node is your factory installed pacemaker.
He had an aftermarket pacemaker installed last month to stop the low side, now by killing the node
they can control the high side pulse rate. Laying on the table at the hospital his heart rate was going from
30 to 190 and skipping a few beats in between.
The chemo is killing off so many blood cells that his platelets are too low to withstand surgery
so they have rescheduled for the 24th and try to rebuild his blood by changing his oil .
Hope we get to keep him around for another 5 years or so. Time will tell and I know that God is
the one in charge.
Again thank everyone for all the prayers

Re: Prayers needed
I'm very sorry again Coyote. I lost what would have been my father in law last summer to cancer, it started in his gall bladder and spread to his pancreas and lungs by the time they caught it. He was withstanding the chemo very well and seemed to be getting better, then suddenly took a turn for the worst and ended up passing within 2 or 3 days. So you never know how things will work out. They can seem great and go terrible, or things can seem horrible and suddenly start getting better, that's something only the almighty could forsee. But I will keep your family in my prayers and I really wish you the best. I know you don't really know me at all but seriously feel free to pm me if you need anything or if I can help in any way. I'm usually good for a few laughs if nothing else
Anyway take care, and best wishes.

Re: Prayers needed
Friday we got the news that Dad's bone marrow has quit producing platelets thus
his blood will not clot. Perhaps killed by the chemo, perhaps it was just to far along.
So the heart surgery cannot be done for fear of his bleeding out. Chemo has been stopped.
Now it is just a waiting game as he grows weaker until the end.
Don't know if that is 2 weeks, 2 months or 6 months.. . .
Mom & Dad are coming for a visit tomorrow, they have wanted to see our new place
and he figures this is his last chances to travel. So I will get a few days with him while
he is still able to get around a bit
It is up to our Lord now
Thanks for all your prayers and wishes

Re: Prayers needed
Coyote,
Spend as much time with him as you possibly can, both quality time, and not so quality time. Do not wait for tomarrow to say anything you need to say. Time is very precious, and it sounds like there may not be a great deal left.
It helped me a great deal to have everything that needed said to be said, between myself and Barb, and also between Barb and other family and close friends. In the end, we did find peace, both with each other, and with the situation we were dealt, and with friends and family. I was/am not unhappy that the misery she lived in during the last months ended. Not unhappy, but sad, and lonely, and I do miss her. But I am thankful that she is not in the misery she is in. I pray you find peace, and some comfort for yourself in this very trying time. But use this time you will get with him in the best way you can, and if you can, visit him as often as you can. I do find a lot of ease, knowing that Barb is now spending time with her fav ggrandma Nine. Probably having pancakes, or homemade sugar donuts right now.
I will light a candle for you, and your dad, and whiper a prayer.
Blessings, Jim.
