Granted this ones only 1 page, but look, two very vague answers and the rest talking about shit like squirrels and grammar errors.
Your looking for an answer that doesn't exist. Because there is no hard answer to your question. The second post in that thread. (an answer by me) May seam vague to you. But it is the answer. Every still is different. Every packing is different. Every still operator is different. Every wash is different. Every still charge is different. Every heat source is different. Everyone's ambient temps are different. Everyone's elevation above (or below) sea level is different. Everyone's cooling water temps are different. You have to find what works for you and your still. It took me 4 or 5 runs to figure out the best way to pack my column. I've taken the time to tell others how to do it exactly as I do. And what do you know? It didn't work for them. This hobby takes a lot of experimenting after proper research. To get it figured out. There is no exact hard numbers for most of what we do. There are only personal preferences and opinions. If you had taken the time to read through a number of threads about that. You mite have realized that. But some don't. And think there has to be a hard answer. They are also the ones that have the most problems.
The 30 or so basic question threads you have started. In the 54 days you have been a member. Aren't getting the answers you need. You can only get those answers by wading through the crap. Which you don't have time for. So where do you go from here? Maybe just slow down. And quit rushing? This hobby doesn't do well when rushed. You are not in a race. Rushing creates headaches and accidents. And you have had plenty of them. So what's say you slow down. Take some time and really research things. And get a better understanding of what's going on. Maybe?
I didn't mention that you mite find it packed one way works ok with this heat amount. But if you don't experiment. You won't find that it works better with a different amount of packing and more or less heat.
I had a mate who did some work for my father with me on a building site.
He once asked me, "How far from the whatyamacallit did you put the thingy?"
I told him, "Close enough to not be gone from where I put it."
Bubby , you are pushing a point with your argumentative demeanor . I've been warned by the MODERATORS to not be nasty to other folks . You make that difficult . Let me ask you this : You need to average 45mph from the time you get in your car until you arrive at work to get there on time . Do you just pull out of the drive and set the cruise at 45 mph and hang on to the steering wheel until you get there or crash ? Or , do you plan your route and timing through RESEARCH so you can SAFELY arrive at work on time without having a crash ? This stillin has a much higher professional standard than driving to work .
If you ain't the lead dog in the team , the scenery never changes . Ga Flatwoods made my avatar and I want to thank him for that .
Don't drink water , fish fornicate in it .

Every word. Spot On. Nobody can do this for you but yourself. From my perspective of the ascended masters here they & I (not an ascended master) prefer if you bring something to the table, instead of just looking for a hand out. Right now your makin right hand turns at Daytona. Doesn't work when the pack is comin at ya!
This whole " I looked but didn't find anything" doesn't work. You gotta dig deeper.
Seems to me you really want to learn and that's great. This is the most informative site you will find.
But you must work within the context already prescribed. That's when those in the know will be more at liberty with knowledge. Until then your just a kid hangin out at the back door.
Yep, a lot of stuff to wade through but in the end, I feel like this is the best place to learn your craft. I try not to get in a big hurry and read every day. On the days that I have an ah ha moment I call that a plus! Some days I don't learn a thing, but other days when I do learn something it makes the time I spent here all worth the while.
Just hang in there, good things come to those who wait!
Posting while woodshed was and +1
