pool pump

Post by kekedog13 »

Necessity is the mother of invention. I thought I could use this pool pump instead of a submersible fountain pump. I already have it, it's new and will push water up a 6 ' length of 1 " PVC . I further tested it by closing off the end of the PVC with my hand and it squirted between my fingers a stream about another foot high. It's made for one of those above ground pools with the inflatable ring at the top and I took out the filter element to increase flow.

They are mag drive pumps. With impellers like used in submersable pond pumps or fish tank pumps. Which means you can put a valve on the output and regulate its flow. Without burning the motor up. As long as it provides enough flow at the height you need. It should work fine. I have one. And mite use it for my cooling water.

I've got 3 of these in the shed, 2 are dead and the third is sounding sick!. They do have good flow for a cheap pump. Mine looses pressure after it's been on the pool or a while. I reckon they'd be fine for cooling. But like.most things cheap, might not last.
