Was it already coiled like that? Do you think someone was in such dire straights that they scrapped their worm for cash? But, congrats on the find.

congrats, that looks like a sizable diameter for the worm, gonna have some impressive output speed if u can get the power to throw at it, wonder where it came from?

Old hot tubs had coils like that wrapped around the pump motor as a heat exchanger. And there were hot water heaters that used something similar, even some old freezer compresses as a vibration isolator.

I have a Stainless Steel one, but smaller diameter, that was wrapped around a motor when I got it.

Great find.

It was some sort of commercial condenser of sorts, it had two other coils inside. Small, med, and large. I got the large, about 12in across 20in tall and 14 lb lol sounds like I'm describing my first child.
I'm finding the wood work of a nice box to fit more of a challenge than any of the copper work I've done

Why not put it in a barrel and be done with it? Plastic, wood or metal. Just askin'.

Thats a wild boiler setup faste. Is that a double 1/2 barrel piped together into a 1/4 barrel thumper? How do you heat the 2 1/2 barrels?
In theory there's no difference between theory and practice. But in practice there is.

Yeah man it's a beast. I have a double burner it sits on quite nicely. Just have make sure it has equal amounts of mash and heating at same rate. But for stripping it works good

Line the luan box with a nice thick black garbage bag. Once full of water, it'll look pretty decent.

Try painting the inside of your box with RedGard

This product really works good and will make that wood water tight. I would also use a bulk head fitting where the copper penetrates the wood

Good Luck

yea paint the thing with waterproofing. lowes sells one that is blue .. much thicker then redgard. but either one with make is waterproof. paint it from the outside. like 3 coats and you will never have a problem..
