Bottling rum and whisky in wine bottles with cork?

Post by CanadianBacon »

Was wondering if I would run into issues using wine bottles and corking then with a wine corker for long term storage?

Sure can. Basically all I use. Get some that fit with the stopper on top the cork so you can open and close

I use wine corks for storage and put a T cork in it when it's time to break it out. Be sure it's virgin cork and not pieces glued together.

Yes stay away from the synthetic corks.

And I would store them on their sides like wine. So the corks stay wet. I'm afraid that the corks would dry out faster with the higher proof alcohol.

I personaly just use the t corks. Tasting corks. For spirits in wine bottles.

I use wine bottles and corks when I travel with my stuff. If the law stops me I all I got is homemade wine.

You didn't always. LOL. Mater of fact I got some nice mason jars on the shelf. I still break one out every once in a while and have a sip or four.
