Fermax or DAP

Post by sekked »

Hi all,

Would Fermax or DAP be better suited for a wash (or situation) or are all yeast nutrient the same?
I have both but was wondering if one has a special purpose

Thank you

Check out this page -> http://www.grapestompers.com/yeast_nutrients.aspx

It covers both products. I know Fermax contains DAP, but that reference suggests using both at different stages. Keep in mind it's a wine website, but the information is concise and relevant

What are you trying to do with it? Or better yet what wash recipes are you trying to use it in. Please elaborate as much as you can. So we can give you the best answer we can.

Fermax contains dap magnesium and tastone (dead yeast juice). I am surprised it doesn't also contain calcium as both calcium and magnesium must be present to do any good.

Thank you all for the replys and link.

I was simply wondering if one was better that the other or used in certain situation. On most posts here the advise is simply add nutrients. Some say DAP some mention Fermax.

I have access to both and they are about the same price.

Is there a rule of thumb on how much to use? is it per wash gal or per lbs of sugar or per OSG, etc...

Thank you

Fermax is a premium nutrient contains diammonium phosphate (DAP), dipotassium phosphate, magnesium sulfate and autolyzed yeast.

Fermax is about a teaspoon per gallon...but remember Fermax has DAP IN IT!

Look for threads on Yeast Bombs...it's making your own version of Fermax...boiled yeast to kill it (autolyzed), DAP, Epsom Salts and a multi vitamin,...
