Re: Dirt Cheap Barrels
Not sure, their website really sucks I would just stay with Gibbs barrels quality that I trust at a good price.
Re: Dirt Cheap Barrels
Yeah the website is what got me wondering. Very little information. I just received two new barrels from the Barrel Mill that I'm very happy with but these guys have a good supply of used bourbon and red wine barrels that I'm interested in. Just wondering if anyone here had deal with them and the quality of their product and service.

How did you get your order done?
What size Bourbon barrel did you get and about how much is it total cost with shipping?

Re: Dirt Cheap Barrels
10 gallon once used Bourbon barrels @ $85 each, with a discount on orders of 5+
Hmmm... Reasonable shipping too.
How much panela would it take to produce 50 gallons rum?

Re: Dirt Cheap Barrels
Ok.......I ordered the barrels on Thursday morning and was told they would ship the same day. The process and payment page seemed legit and I did get a confirmation Email invoice. Haven't heard a thing since even after sending an Email yesterday inquiring on tracking information.

Robert seems to take about a day to reply to email but he did send me tracking info, of a sort.WIski wrote:Ok.......I ordered the barrels on Thursday morning and was told they would ship the same day. Not sure the exact situation but I can text the truck driver for an ETA.
So, for my order anyway it's not FEDEX or UPS.
However I ordered 5 barrels so truck sounds like what they do with a pallet of them, maybe they do differently with different size orders.

Nerdy please let me know how that barrel order goes. I'm really happy with my new Gibbs barrels, but they were spendy.

Robert is aware I will be giving a review once I get the barrels, he's very upbeat about it.Oldvine Zin wrote:Nerdy please let me know how that barrel order goes. I'm really happy with my new Gibbs barrels, but they were spendy.
I'll post with pictures and my impressions on the buy, shipping, receiving and condition.

Re: Dirt Cheap Barrels
Thanks NB, Got an Email today that indicated the barrels were shipped early yesterday and he would get back to me with an ETA. I sure hope this works out........
You will probably get your barrels before I get mine as you are much closer to them than I am. I will also post my reviews of the transaction after receiving the barrels.

Re: Dirt Cheap Barrels
Great prices if the barrel quality is legit. Please advise us as they arrive. I'd be ready for a another barrel.
Thanks for this thread. I bought a "once used" Balcones barrel but it had three uses marked on the barrel head when I received it. Expensive used, too. I think it was a Gibbs barrel by origin.

My Balcones barrel was like that too, but it gave a whole lot of color and flavor in a short time so I've never complained.varocketry wrote:Great prices if the barrel quality is legit. Please advise us as they arrive. I'd be ready for a another barrel.

Re: Dirt Cheap Barrels
Bitter, what were you quoted for shipping to Canada?
Re: Dirt Cheap Barrels
Never e-mailed but right away for UPS they charge a $50 brokerage for crossing the border.
Can't use a truck etc brokerage issues... can cost alot

Re: Dirt Cheap Barrels
The next challenge will be filling 5 barrels before the end of summer!
Between my rum, my plans for corn & wheat and another scotch it will be a lot of work but so very worth it.
Now lets hope the barrels live up to it!

Re: Dirt Cheap Barrels
Apparently this site is a scam, they have told me over and over that the barrels would be delivered however there are no barrels here.
Today I got this:
"Robert is not in the office to reply to your message about getting an ETA on the delivery truck. I can help with locating your order this morning.
I'm also going to issue a refund until the order arrives and after we can arrange to re-invoice for payment.
I'll send confirmation on the refund in a bit.
Thanks
Mary H"
So far no refund shows on my account.

Re: Dirt Cheap Barrels
Sorry to hear that. I was about to order some. Thanks for the heads up
Re: Dirt Cheap Barrels
Yup, sorry to report I have had the same experience with Dirt Cheap Barrels. Vague Emails and empty promises. No tracking info or ETA's. When I told them I was going to contact the Credit Card Company to reverse the charges this is what I received from "Robert".
"Refund is issued until order is delivered.
Thanks,
Robert"
There has been no credit issued to my account though. Probably because Robert is out of the office. SCAM, stay away from these guys.
