Re: Wiring question
Also you can use an old computer power supply on the main plyg to the mother board look for green wire cut it and get one of the black and short it together.
Once power it up you will have 5V DC on red and black and on yellow and black will have 12 VDC.
colors are red 5V ,yellow 12 V , black ground.

Re: Wiring question
I built my controller exactly like rgreen added a 240v light indicator as well as a 240v fan in the 8x8 home depot box. Works great. I followed the wiring exact like rgreen my thread is somewhere in here.

Re: Wiring question
I bought a cheap 12v power supply and mounted it inside the box. I think it was $8 on eBay. I can't edit pics on my phone but you can see it right in the center.

Re: Wiring question
The power supply for PC is switchable 120 or 240 but the fans are usual 12 v are you talking the fan on the processor or in power supply.pointhunter75 wrote:Pc fans are 120v Correct?
on Power supply is wired internaly and most likely is 12v also.

Oh didn't know that. I guess was talking about power supply fan. Forgot about there being 2fans. I guess be better off ordering one Then. What's advantage of a 240 over 120? I'm using 8x8x6 plastic from home depot. I can't pics some reason. I've tried over and over. Never had a Problem posting pics on a forum before.

Re: Wiring question
My fan was a 12v DC computer fan and I ran a separate wall wart power supply to it. I had a 220 V fan but could not fit it on the box

Re: Wiring question
Good size box for your stuff. If adding internal heatsink, it gets tight in a 6x6x4 so you'll have plenty of room. I've built them with both 120 and 240 fans depending on what the person wanted. With either you could hook it up to SSVR and make it variable speed with the controller.pointhunter75 wrote:Oh didn't know that. I guess was talking about power supply fan.
