Hello World!
Hi All,
I'm pretty new to distilling, I've been brewing beer for many years now using a Brau Eula. it has been my plan to convert this to a still by placing a 4" Tri-clamp flange on top which can be used as a column or pot still or as a brewery. however I am now considering to use a Digiboil 65L or maybe a Brewzilla 65L though the latter is a bit pricy, perhaps. I'm buying most of the components for my still from Aliexpress, and buying a few parts each month.
I've made a couple of batched of vodka on a borrowed pot still in the past and tried making gin by steeping the botanicals in the gin (bathtub gin) with measure of success.
My main interest in distilling is Vodka and Gin but i my be tempted to have a go at Rum at some point

Welcome skotten.
If your primary focus is vodka/gin, then you want to be looking at a decently sized reflux column to make neutral, then a small pot still to make your gin batches.

Hi And thanks for the welcome Guys

I have a 4" reflux column with four bubble plates which will go nicely on my shiny new Gen 4 Brewzilla 65L which i got at 25% off on Black Friday. It will be quite simple to switch this setup over to a pot still.

Sounds like a winner!
I'd advise a very small pot still to do a few experimental gin batches, before you run a big one in your Brewzilla.
That's a lot of gin to choke down if you get it wrong.

Re: Hello World!
My original plan was to go with a gin basket and complete the process in a single run but i see many suggesting a pot still. the second run will be quite a small volume for the Brewzilla. i feel a bit of trial and error coming on

most likely my first few batches will be vodka just to get used to using the column, it seems a bit more involved than running a pot.

Welcome aboard Skotten.
You won't make good gin in one run, those suggesting you need both a reflux still to make the base spirit and also a pot to then make the gin are spot on.
You've got a lot of reading ahead of you.
