Re: Random Pics
I'm pretty sure it's a 1936 Ford coupe. The hood ornament is a grey hound.

Re: Random Pics
Yep. Your right; it looks like a greyhound. As a matter of fact the story seems to be that Jaguar's (and Dodge's) hood ornaments / radiator cap, were later inspired by that original ornament of Lincoln, not Ford. (look at the upper right in the first slide).
(Well) Lincoln was its own car company from 1917 until Ford bought it out in 1922. The first greyhounds were put on Lincolns in 1925, by which time they were Fords; indirectly. At some point Ford then put greyhounds on certain Ford branded "mid-range" cars, but stopped in 1936. Mercury was a brand created by Ford in 1938.
Hood ornaments were a fad on many different luxury cars between the late 1920's and late 1930's. The Mac truck which was made famous in WWI for its ruggedness and reliability – was nicknamed “bulldog” by the British during the war. But Mac trucks didn't get a bulldog hood ornament until 1932.

Was driving along the I-5 and saw what I believe is Bushman’s travel trailer.
That is a trailer, not a boat on a trailer.

The illusion is more dynamic and convincing in the moving video; in real life too, probably.

Re: Random Pics
Had a nice little buck go through the yard the other day. Then he came by with a doe or two. They have been hanging out under this big, old oak in the yard foraging for acorns. My dog found a shed. I had never seen one so new before. We usually see them in the spring after the snow melts and the mice have nibbled on them. My husband took the dogs for a walk in the woods to find the other one and they found it. Now I have nice matching set.

Wow, I'm in total envy.
Of the fact you have them, AND the fact you have wildlife like that going through your yard!

Re: Random Pics
They are beautiful and I love watching them. I hate chasing them out of the blueberry bushes and my rhododendrons. I'm hoping they stay around long enough for us to see the spring fawns, then go away when I have to put my garden in.
We'll see.

Nice find saddie. I live in an area with one off the largest white tail populations. Iv found a few since moving here, but never a full shed. Thats rare. Most of the full ones are on my walls.sadie33 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 02, 2024 10:53 am Had a nice little buck go through the yard the other day. Then he came by with a doe or two. I thought I'd be clever but after scrolling through the first 50 pages of "Time Detective Gallery" I still hadn't found the photo. Then I tried the websites search function ... nuthin'.
I did see some cool photos, though.

Re: Random Pics
Twisted Brick nailed it. I don't know where he got the rest of his information though.
-If you zoom in to behind the guy's left arm in the picture, you can see the name Ingersol (but not Rand); that's one clue. I cant figure out what all the sight glasses (?) are for.
(I caught the Historic image of this well made machine in a youTube video and could not figure out what it was. So I used 'Google images”, and found this: Wikipedia says that Simon Ingersoll founded Ingersoll Rock Drill Company in 1871 in New York.
Then it combined with Sergeant Drill to form Ingersoll Sergeant Drill Company in 1888.
Brothers Addison and Jasper Rand, established Rand Drill Company in 1871.
The companies merged into Ingersol – Rand; but 5 years after the compressor in this picture was made.

The history of air compressors is still a bit nebulous though. Some of those web pages above consider 1790ish the beginning of mechanical air compressors. By the 1850s they were common. But seldom mentioned are “hydraulic water trompes”. These were sometimes used to power pipe organs in German cathedrals as far back as 1650. Hydraulic trompes used alongside Catalan forges might be far older than that.
