Southeast Meetup 2025

Post by Steve Broady »

Time to start talking about next year, friends. I know it’s a bit early, and several of us have a lot on our plates right now(if we’re lucky enough to have any plates left), but I have to schedule my 2025 vacation by the end of November. The past couple years we’ve gone for mid-April. Does that work for anyone who’s serious about joining in next year? I’m down for pretty much anything myself.

I'd love to try and make it this time. I heard a rumor NOLA was in the mix for this year's location.

I’m in, just need to work dates and location. Looking forward to locking it down.

Edit: are you seeing the messages in the group emails? Just confirming as there was a lot of date discussion there and the place was locking down until the hurricane. Seems like we are back to starting over.
I just read an article about the dangers of drinking that scared the crap out of me.

That’s it. No more reading!

Hi all,

We are planning a 2025 southeast meetup now. Doing this mostly offline this year, but want to make sure all new members get their chance to opt in. If you are interested, post a reply and we will add you to the conversation around the meetup.

Just want to bump this to keep it in view. We have settled on Mar 28-30, but the proposed location at USA Raft will not be available due to the massive effort of recovering from Helene. We need to decide where to meet as soon as we can.

If you are interested in attending and want to participate in the discussion, PM higgins, Dougmatt, or Steve Broady to be added to the google group. We are less than 60 days away.

Some very tasty vittles indeed! Made all the better by good company, good conversation, and good spirits.

We ended up with a rather small group (5 HD members + 2 of our better halves) and we shared a 5 BR VRBO for the weekend (Fri/Sat) in the North Georgia mountains. It was an excellent adventure (but no Bill or Ted), and thoroughly enjoyable, with excellent people, food, and spirits!

The SE Meetup is growing and gets better every year

Wished I could have made it boys but unfortunately work duty meant this weekend was never in the cards for me.

Here’s to cameraderie!

Sounds like a nice time, I guess I missed the first post about it. Is there a s.w get together?

Sounds like a great time was had by all. I'm really hoping to make it next year. Work just didn't allow it this year.

It was great seeing all of you. Wish I could have stayed longer! Was really nice to be able to enjoy the products our labors together. I’ve shown that picture to a few people. Quite an impressive array of samples we tasted through. Nothing bad, some really good. I learn something at every meetup. This time I went home and blended a couple of my bourbons together to achieve something much better than the individual parts. (Thanks Jonny for that conversation). You guys set a high bar that I will continue to strive to achieve….

SteveB really great hot sauces! Thank you for sharing. I’m looking forward to getting back to enjoying them soon.

The meetup was a really great time! Being a newcomer, I was welcomed and felt at home instantly. Tasting and discussing techique was extremely helpful and enjoyable. Thanks y'all for that!

I'm trying to match folks' with their handles here and I'm coming up short. Was there a member there on Friday night, and not on Saturday? I missed this detail.

Anyway, thanks for the comraderie and support! Stay curious, hungry and thirsty! See y'all in 2026 if not before.

Dougmatt came up Friday, but couldn’t stay. Unfortunately, you missed each other.
