Greetings from Stockport UK

Post by Uriah55 »

Hi everybody, I’ve just dipped my toes into distillation having been home brewing for past 5 years. Started with a “Still Spirits” Alembic Dome and condenser for my Grainfather G30. I’m starting off with Malt Whiskey and Rum as being best suited to pot still. Not sure i will have the patience for long ageing!

You're just a port away from being in Stockholm! Welcome to HD, Uriah! Whiskey and Rum are great ways to start. If you're not familiar with brewing, perhaps Rum is a good way to get going and then some of the sugar heads to get yourself ready for all grain brewing, like the famous UJSSM?
Step by step, little by little.

Hi Uriah,
Don't worry to much about aging yet. Just aim to make more then you drink. Thus eventually you have enough aged product. Good luck with the adventure.

Hello and welcome!! The UJSSM makes a great moonshine that you don't have to age at all!! You can use that while you wait for your rum to age. Enjoy the ride!

welcome from perth w.a.
i lived about 1 km from Mcvities a long time ago.
your brewing experience will come in handy.
i still use my brewing boiler, a brewzilla 35L with a modular still setup.
does that grainfather g30 have the ability to change the power settings?
