Which thickness of copper would best suit the inside of the column?? I was thinking one of the fine meshes in the very bottom row. There 99% pure...that should be good!!!! $8 per 36" square.. sounds good to me.

that material is window screen. the term copper mesh in distilling generaly refers to copper gauze, or copper scrubbies, search copper gauze it comes in rolls 100'-400' and bigger. the design purpose of copper gauze is cleaning plastic injection molds without scratching. that application is the least expensive source. secondary use is insect intrusion barrier. more expensive from those sources. not all copper scrubbies are created equal, even some labled pure copper are in fact copper plated steel (not suitable for distilling) take a magnet and test when buying copper or stainless scrubbies.W.S.C.beachman wrote:Which thickness of copper would best suit the inside of the column?? Re: Check out this copper
Thanks for the link WSCB as I've been looking for bits to put together a gin basket and that type of screen is just what I was looking for. I'm thinking of using two reducers butted together and I'll use the screen to keep the botanicals from going back down the pipe.

Re: Check out this copper
I found a couple places that sell Copper Gauze and like you said 100' rolls and up. I didn't call them to verify prices but, it seems as though its about $40 per roll. Ill probably try out the Copper mesh, roll it up to a decent density and see what happens. Itll be a bit though till I can do a run, but as soon as I do Ill post back here to let you all know what I found.
