Hello
I am new to the distilling business. Have made wine for a few years and love watching the process. Glad I found this site, it will be nice to be able to converse with some experienced distillers as I try to develop a product that fits my tastes.

Re: Hello
So far I have only made wine. I am interested in most anything that contains alcohol. I am reading the posts and threads and have learned quite a bit already.

Re: Hello
Welcome runswithscissors. I would advise against doing that while running your still.
Have you made any plans of yet? Will you build or buy a still? Building is cheaper and can be much better. I would first figure out what drink you would like to make. Then research what still works best with that drink. Then how and why it operates the way it does. Different stills work better for different spirits. If you are familiar with fermenting wine. Fermenting for distillation will be a walk in the park. There is more then enough info within these threads to keep you busy for a long time. Soak it up and enjoy.

Re: Hello
Seems like brandies and such would be a logical starting place......Can also be a great advantage on the wine side that you can simply distill any wines that don't pass muster for what ever reason.
And also,,, welcome Runswithscissors.........Its always fun till someone looses an eye

I would have to make my own, I have been a mechanic for 25 years and just cannot buy anything I can make myself.

Re: Hello
I tell ya, one of the most interesting things I have read so far is the use of bread yeast, until now I have only heard terrible things about the use of non-alcohol tolerant yeasts to produce a product.

Hello Runs,
Welcome to the forum. LOTS of info on how these guys make something good with simple bakers yeast. Also some info on how to make something good using other yeasts, including high alc tollerance ones.
