Hello
New to the forums, I've been reading/lurking on and off for about a year.My wife has started a micro-distillery in Europe and we now have a brand new 150L still that I didn't even get to fire up last time I was there. Hopefully I'll be able/allowed to make a run on it in the next year or two. Made the plunge here at home (USA) and started a mash of apples that I cored and pulped up 3 days ago. We'll see how it turns out as there's no sugar mixed in there and I expect the ferment to go slowly, pitched it with 1116.
Lots of good info here, I hope to learn a lot as I go. I have a small still I hope to fire up soon ans I'm planning on running water through it to see how it goes. After that I might do a UJSM if the apple isnt ready or maybe find 5 gals. of cheap wine or beer to see/learn how to heat it up with alcohol wash in it and start learning to do cuts. I'll shoot a pic of the Euro sill at some point but I really admire the guys who make their own and post those.

It is a very nice still but if I can make some time and practice on some copper that would be fantastic. There are some nice rigs here that guys build themselves and I envy that.I'm hoping I'll get to run it but it won't be anytime soon. I got the essential extractor pro 2 that I'm very excited to learn how to use.

Re: Hello
It does have plates, the plans/manual are in German, which takes me a bit to figure it all out. The way I understand it there are a few bypasses on this thing which I'm assuming means we can do reflux or pot runs. I'll try and find out more details about this still as all I have are the pics I posted and some drawings. I might have one or two more pics but nothing with great detail. The best ones are posted already.rockchucker22 wrote:The column doesn't have plates????

I'll Play devil's advocate and ask what I honk everyone of the forum is wanting to ask:
* What does an amazing rig like that set you back?
* What does it cost to run one of those puppies?
I've also been wondering, if it it steam powered how does the steam resoviour work and does it recycle the water back to vapor and how?

Hi Pete. Rough numbers it was around 40k with the exchange rate at that time, would have been cheaper when the Euro took a dump.Peter_Muir wrote:I'll Play devil's advocate and ask what I honk everyone of the forum is wanting to ask:

It is fueled by gas but we havent hooked it up yet. I have some stuff I can post about it later. As much as I like that still I wont have much hands on time with it any time soon. But the exciting thing is my EE II is coming today! I'll make a My First post hopefully in the next day or two.

A few of us here speak German if you need translations or for the odd technical Deutsch word this is a good Übersetzer
