Some of you may have already discovered this, but you can get a product called Flex Watt Heat Tape at pet supply stores and it works great as a heater for fermenters. You can combine that with a controller and it will hold a nice steady temperature.
This is where I bought the Flex Watt http://www.bigappleherp.com/Flex-Watt-Heat-Tape
This is the controller I bought http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000NZ ... 00_details
I have mine wrapped around my fermenter and it is holding a nice steady 70F in my 55F basement.

That is pretty cool (hot?). Folks who have to ferment in a cool environment could make good use of this.
I have that same controller but I use it for a seedling mat that I set my fermenter buckets on.
