Awesome milk can resource!

Post by Wavfact »

Ever wonder where Hill Billy Stills, mile High, etc.. get their milk cans?

http://abany.en.alibaba.com/productgrou ... l#products" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow

Not sure what the shipping charges are from China but these are exactly what Hillbilly Stills sells... They have reducers, Ferrel's, tri clamps, gaskets, etc.. They even have towers which look a lot like Mile Highs..

Not sure this is the place they buy theirs, but one of the milk can's listed there is identical to the one I got from Hillbilly.. and the 50 gallon he shows in a video is identical in every way to one listed on that site.

I have looked for many things and my google search brings me to the alibaba site usually you have to buy so many of the item it is not worth it for someone not selling commercially. I am talking sometimes up to a minimum order of 1000.

Has anyone requested price list yet?

I requested prices on the 100L and 200L boilers. We'll see what happens.

We manufacture the towers here in Colorado I will not buy towers from China. I started buying from this company about 4 years ago and hillbilly and brewhuas started buying from them recently. The Chinese are ruthless and have copied from my web site and emailed all my competitors to sell more products. The Chinese are out for maximum profits and don’t have any ethics. I spent a lot of time and money on molds and punches just to have theme stab me in the back and sell to my competitors.

Shit happens one way to look at it at least the home distillers buying from small company’s have a much nicer selection not just beer kegs or welded buckets anymore.

I would even money that IF you can get a firm quote for one unit, their FOB price (not including shipping ) would be more expensive than buying from a US supplier. The shipping time would be loooong. These guys are not set up to sell or ship retail. I could be wrong.

I already have a 26gal boiler from hillbilly so I don't have a use for anything else. I am just curious about what they would charge with shipping. The best deal on a boiler is still a keg. You can usually pick one up for $50 vs my 26gal which was around $550.

just noticed that the FOB?? is $80-$2000 with sizes of 10L,30L,50L,60L,100L,200L,400,800L so I am assuming the 10L starts at $80 and the 800L would be the $2000. Who knows.

I'm curious to see if you get a response. Any time I have emailed an alibaba listing for other stuff, I never got any response.

I messaged a couple as well.. Found them while looking for the 4" to 3" reducer and tri clamps I need to get my Hillbilly Still operational. At least I know someone has them cuz they are listed on that site.. :) I'd be interested to know how much that 50 gallon one is since it boosted the price at HS by $6000 for it.. Though I have no use for one that size.. Do like to idea of sight glasses on it though..

Hey milehidistilling, do you happen to carry those types of reducers?

OMG!!! I was poking around that site and as milehigh stated, they rip off their customers designs!!!

Check this out:

http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/50268 ... y_for.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow

I did email and request pricing just for the heck of it.. Guess if you are in business, be careful of who you buy your supplies from!

I did get a reply from the milkcan company in china.. See attached..

I doubt I hear back from them but curiosity got the better of me.

Here's what I received from them.

Price without shipping cost is 269.00usd/pcs.

Then you would need to ship it from overseas, so shipping by Sea, would be the cheapest way.
But then you have to let them know the sea port of destination so you know the sea freight charge.
Then the charge getting it to you from the sea port unless you can pick it up.

Payment is: 30% as deposit, 70% before shipment. (More than 4000usd/order)
If less than 4000usd/order, should pay 100% in advance.

That's for this one:

This is what I was sent. I asked again for shipping prices.

100L,price is 258.90usd/pcs
200L,price is 1180.00usd/pcs

Could be worth a group buy if the shipping isn't over the top.

His 50gal boilers are double walled and insulated. They would be a bit higher to manufacture I would imagine. As far as Mike's price for the 26 gal. I would probably charge what he charges too. By the time it is shipped you still want to make at least 75% profit or it wouldn't be worth doing.

If the quote from Poitin is any indication, i'd suspect shipping is high and perhaps a PITA. I hate to think there's a 100% markup on the 100L and a 500% markup on the 200L, so i'm assuming the bulk of the cost when buying elsewhere is in shipping.

That is a HOLY CRAP!! on the single piece shipping.
The 20 or more pieces is reasonable if you could get a group buy that big.

Dear Kevin

If you need 1pcs,ship it to you by FEDEX ,it is the fastest and cheapest way, charges is 476.00usd/pcs

If you need more than 20pcs,we can ship them to you by Sea,shipping cost will be about 90usd/3pcs

Kind regards

This is what I meant by PITA. Once you get it to a port, then what? I'm not driving to any part of the west coast to pick up at the port, and i'm sure it's not going to be cheap to ship from said port to your house.

I am satisfied with the price I paid on my boiler from Hillbilly Stills. Of course we all wish we could save a dollar. Sometimes it just isn't worth it.

Me not having to go to any trouble is well worth the extra he is making on these things.

Plus shipping, brokerage fees, duties (if applicable), repackaging each boiler, plus more destination shipping. Hassle. Might be worth it if one's going big and commercial.

to me the hysterical thing is the pro bavarian rig knockoffs:

There was a rumor a while back that christian carl was moving some of the manufacturing for their (insanely expensive) stills to asia... This here might prove it.

If any of y'all are considering a group buy I would STRONGLY recommend hiring a Freight Forwarder that is experienced in import. They will, for a fee, arrange for all the shipping, customs paperwork, broker fees, clearance fees, destination shipping, ect ect ect. A PITA is a understatement: I just retired after 25 years in international marketing and it wasn't unusual for a shipment, even with a pro Freight Forwarder handling all the details, to be a nightmare. Very common for the officials on the other end demanding a "gratuity" for allowing the goods to be released. I would also recommend checking out air freight; for a relatively small shipment to be less expensive than ocean shipment and the customs/clearing problems are usually much less. Also, if shipping anything less that a 20 foot container load the shipment would have have to be consolidated in a less than container load which in itself a PITA.

Got a reply on the stainless steel 4 plate flute.. $508 FOB China.. Asked for a quote on shipping to the US..

I had to shrink down the image they sent me because the forum limits it to 800 x 800 pixels.. If anyone wants the full size high resolution image, PM me.. You can zoom right in and see inside the sight glass..
